Try to write down a bit of Elizabeth's chatting box -- impossible. First of all, I've got no time at all. Even now, I'd better sleep.
But Lizzy is a darling. Plump short piece of energy, will, always sounding. That's funny, she does sound all the time. When she wants us to understand her, she tries to find the way -- explains her meaning word by word, trying to pronounce it properly, waiting (and insisting) for us to repeat each word to be sure we got it all right. But when she doesn't need us, she speaks her own language quite fluently and without stops. Funny expression.
I need to put it down: last April she didn't speak, almost none, if some "mama" and "dy" (water). But she could explain everything with her fingers and face expressons. That was fun for us, and that was enough for her, and she didn't understand why we insisted on her speaking words at all.
Last May she understood the point and began speaking last syllables of some words. "Ka" (milk, malaka), "ka!" (playground, plaschadka), "ba" (bread, khleba), "papa" and I do not remember any more.
Last June she made a big jump. Her vocabulary had vastly grown, but the principle was the same: last syllable, sometimes doubled: Nyanya (Anya), Tasha (Natasha, nanny), "sla" (butter, masla), "dydy" (water, vady). Very nice were two must-have words "da", "net" (yes &no), she used them for checking up if mama and papa got her meaning right.
But in July she began chatting at last. She can pronounce the whole word "drugoi", "bol'shoi", but some chosen words are still one-syllabled, like her favourite "dydy". A frog (lyagushka) was the only new word which appeared again in that old form "kA". (All those ka are quite different in sounding, so, we can tell one from another). But other words are now pronouncing in full. BUT old words which has already been included in her speech, she keeps them faithfully in those forms they had earlier. She can repeat it after us: Ma? - ma! - La? - la! - Ka? - ka!, then "please say it malaka" -- "KA!"
