A new level

Somehow I seem to have reached a new level in my running ability. We'll see if it can be maintained for a month until the Cannes Half Marathon but if it can I should be up for a significant improvement of half marathon time to around 1h25 from my current record of around 1h29 or so. That is now my goal anyway.

It used to be that I had problems maintaining a pace below 4.25mins/km =  14.1km/h on my training runs, although I could average that pace during races. However, the last couple of runs I've been able to do significant chunks at a pace of just less than 4mins/km (= 15km/h). Admittedly some of that was downhill but some of it certainly wasn't and so I think I'm in with a good chance of running the full race at the 4mins/km pace (more or less) which means doing the 21.1km in 1h24. I'll give myself the extra minute in the goal to absorb the various bobbles that may occur.

The next goal after that is to run the Prague Marathon in 3h10 or less.
