Yes I know, this post is kinda late however with my laptop still at Toshiba so I have less online time and hence the late post. :P My laptop is fine by the way, it's just taking too long since I can't reformat my hard disk so they're working on that. You'll also have to forgive me as this is a rather long entry hence the LJ cuts. :P
Oh and by the way, starting today my journal will be semi-friends only now. :) Usually my rare blog posts are automatically friends only however my friends advised me to keep this particular blog public hence the change. :) So blog entries may be friends only or public while my graphics will still always be public. :)
Anyway, so after three seasons of watching American Idol, my favorite finally won! :DDD Congratulations Cookie! <3 I'm really SO SO SO happy for you. :DDD
I'm just so happy! ^_________^ My seven hours of voting were totally worth it! <3
Looking back, I think I never supported anyone as much as David Cook, with regards to voting anyway.
American Idol Season 5
The first idol that I ever supported was Elliott Yamin.
Elliott got me into watching American Idol. I never did watch American Idol before season 5. I mean I was aware and sometimes I see some random performances when someone recommends them to me but then season 5 came and I actually got to watch it from the start, saw Elliott perform, and the rest is history. I really did wanted him to win and I really felt that he deserved to win. Who can forget "
A Song for You?"However back then, I didn't know how to vote since I wasn't from the US. I did attempt to vote via some site a fellow fan told me however I don't know whether my votes were counted. ^_^; I also tried voting via Skype if I remember correctly. I did try support him in any way that I can, I'm a
Yaminoy but with regards to voting I didn't know if I did enough to keep him there. I was really sad when he was voted off. :(
By the way, for those who don't know I actually got to meet him last September 22, 2007 when he came to perform here in my country! :D He sounds really amazing live! :) Oh and I got his autograph as well! He signed my CD. :DDD
He also came back on American Idol this season (again!) and look he just did a David Cook. ;D
We miss her too Elliott. <3
Hmm. You know what? I think I need an Elliott Yamin icon post. :P
American Idol Season 6
Moving on, last season I supported Blake Lewis.
This time I was more involved. After Elliott, I didn't think I'd watch American Idol again. Also, since I was also very busy at that time I really wasn't able to watch it from the start. However, while I was channel surfing I happened to watch Blake's performance of "
You Give Love a Bad Name," and he was really amazing. I then decided that I just had to support him because he was really original. I watched all the performances that I missed (and I wasn't disappointed, I'm pretty sure I would have supported him earlier had I watched from the start), became part of
theblakergirls, made
vote for Blake banners and icons, and voted for him via Gizmo. I got some of my friends in the US to vote for him too. The week of the finale I was actually there in the US hence I was really able to vote for him using my brother's phone. However, during that time my family and I were away from our hotel hence I wasn't able to really maximize my voting time since I had to conserve my brother's cellphone battery. I also didn't have Gizmo with me. ^_^; I got at least 270-300 votes though (I lost count at some point). I did what I could at that time.
And again, my favorite didn't win. D:
Before we move on to this season, I was just so happy when I saw this:
Blake supports Cookie as well! Isn't that awesome? :D
American Idol Season 7
So another season of American Idol came. Like last year, I was extremely busy hence again, I wasn't able to watch it from the start. And, I actually thought that I wouldn't even watch this season anymore especially since for the past two seasons my favorite didn't win.
Well, it was just so by chance that I was meeting the Yaminoys. We have this project for Claudette Yamin (Elliott's mom) so that was one agenda for the meeting, and of course another one was to watch American Idol. That was the first time I ever watched an episode of this season's American Idol and what can I say? I was speechless after David Cook's performance of "
Always Be My Baby" and that's saying a lot since I love the original version of it. I even texted
one of my friends that she just has to watch Idol that night. :P
That pretty much started it.
Like last time, I wasted no time. That same night I started watching the performances that I missed and looking back, I'm sure I would have supported Cookie much earlier had I watched American Idol from the start. He certainly had me at "Hello." ;) I also started getting involved in different forums and
davidcookai7. Then, like last season, I started to make make a Cookie posts each week (
Vote for David Cook icons and banners). Pretty much the same like last season right?
But then, I never voted as hard as I did this season. Maybe it's because from experience I now know how things really work. I know now how to fully utilize Gizmo and I know now that I can even vote via my cellphone even if I'm here in the Philippines. I know exactly what time I should vote and each week, I didn't hesitate to get other people to vote. Even on the finals night I got to recruit another friend. She's a fan as well however she wasn't aware that she could indeed vote and she happened to be online at that time. :) People were asking for my help and I was really surprised myself that I was actually one of the persons who was asked different questions regarding voting and everything. I didn't hesitate to explain to people too since that would mean more votes for Cookie and I even made this extensive post with instructions, which was worth it since even on the day of the finals some people was able to read and use it as well. :)
This was the longest time I voted too! Seven hours! Yes, seven hours because voting time was extended and I can vote during both time zones. I was kinda anxious at first since I needed to go to school. D: Like the past few weeks, I wanted to use Gizmo and my cellphone for voting at the same time. Multi-voting is an art by the way. ;D So I was just about to settle for just voting via my cellphone for the first three hours then use Gizmo and my cellphone for the last four hours once I come home, but then my sister volunteered to run Gizmo for me while I gone so yay! XD So yeah, for the first three hours, I voted via my cellphone while my sister voted via Gizmo. Then as soon as I got home, I resumed voting via Gizmo and my cellphone. :D That only lasted two hours though since apparently Gizmo forgot that voting hours are extended for this week hence voting ended at it's regular time. D: No matter, I still got to vote via my cellphone until the last two hours of voting. I got at least 1000 votes (I stopped counting at that point) in. So yes, seven hours of voting! All for Cookie. :D
After voting, of course I wasn't able to resist.. I checked Dialidol and Zabasearch and they predicted that Cookie was the winner! :D
Of course I was happy but at the same time still, I had to know for sure. You never know what may happen.
You know a lot of Word Nerds/Cookies were appalled about Simon's comments about David Cook's performance on the finals night.
It actually shows a little bit later here but I already knew since I read the spoilers. :P
I was kinda surprised at first since Simon was pro-Cookie. He said so in some interviews. Then, I thought maybe he's just using reverse psychology on us fans so that we would vote like mad for Cookie.
Later on, I logged on to LJ and on different forums and apparently a lot of them were thinking the same way. Especially because of Simon's wink at the end. ;D
So here comes the finale, and Simon actually apologized to Cookie! Seriously, maybe this was really just all part of his plan for Cookie to win. Well, whether it was his secret plan or not ..
David Cook won by 12 million votes!!! :D
My seven hours of voting were totally worth it! :DDD
Haha and I'm proud to say that I was part of it all. Yes, I'm part of the 54 million votes for Cookie! :D
Oh and I really think it was part of Simon's secret plan.. he was absolutely beaming when Cookie won! :D
Some people were saying that it was a shocker. Let's just look at it this way.
For the casual watcher, it may have been surprising (Archie really did well on the finals night) but for those who have been watching American Idol all season well, I think it was expected somehow. Or at least, it really could have been anyone. Both Archie and Cookie are really talented.
In the beginning it was Archie who was pimped, and he deserved it too. Then, as the show went on, we see versatility of Cookie who won praises from the judges. Then on the finals night, again the tables were turned and it wasn't Cookie (as what people expected) but Archie who was pimped because of his great performances. What my friend merrr told me basically summarizes everything (she's an Archie fan by the way): "As some people have been saying David Archuleta may have won last night, but David Cook won the season overall." I really do believe that Cookie deserves this. He's not only extremely talented but he's just really an
amazing guy. He's going through at lot with regards to his personal life (his brother Adam) and of course the whole being in the show is just really stressful (him losing weight is enough proof) but he remained strong. It's been a wonderful journey for him and He's just so grateful about everything. <3 I do like Archie as well by the way but of course my full support goes to Cookie. :P
"“I, I started this season much to Simon’s chagrin as the word nerd, and I’m absolutely at a loss for words right now… Thank you guys… this is amazing! Thank you!” - David Cook
Q: Did you think you were going to win?
A: I didn't. The respect that I have for David Archuleta is very much past a competitor. He has more talent at his age than I know what to do with at 25. So being able to share a stage with him is an honor for me. I kind of went into Tuesday just to have fun, so the fact that I walk out of here the next American Idol is not a testament to me so much as it's a testament to the other 23 contestants we had this season and to everybody behind the scenes. - David Cook
I love how both Cookie and Archie have nothing but great things to say about each other. Their brother relationship is adorable (Cookie is like a big brother to Archie). I also love the fact that it was Cookie who approached Archie first and the rest of the idols. He really wants to share his moment with all of them. <3
All your hard work paid off David. Congratulations! You really deserve it. You're living your dream now! <3 I can't wait for you to release your album, I will surely buy it. Oh and be sure to perform here in the Philippines! You have a lot of fans here. The fact that "Always Be My Baby" has already reached number 1 on several radio stations here already is enough proof of that. :) Your new single "Time of my Life" is also climbing the charts as well now. :D
Thank you also for
updating us so fast and you're welcome! Thank you for sharing your talent with us. Congrats again! <3 Cookie fans if you haven't watched that yet please do. :D
Now, the question is will I watch American Idol again next season? LOL. Like a lot of people I do tend to get involved with the Idol I support. Now that my favorite has won, well it's all good now right? :) I know some people are really stopping after this season. As for me, we'll see. :) Who knows? Like Blake and Cookie, if by chance I see someone again deserving to win then I just might just support him. :)
If you read this whole post, thank you so much! You're awesome! :DDD *claps* I'm sorry I think I got carried away. XD But really, there are just really no words to explain how I feel. <3
