Pop Culture Devours Eternally

People look back on Elvis' life and talk about how great he was, but all I can think about is how his own fame devoured and destroyed him. America did this to him. Our great country devours the souls of our celebrities so that we can subsist on the inane events of our boring existence. Being the "King" destroyed this man and I sit here and wish I could go back in time and stop him from ever picking up a guitar or standing in front of a microphone.

It's so weird but I get extremely mad whenever I hear a song by Elvis. The shit actually touches me and as I'm experiencing my moment of serentiy (fuck you, your sky is mine, bitches), all I can think about is how *being* famous destroyed this man. I'll take toiling away in obscurity if it means I never end up like him--beaten and broken, an obscene caricature of his former self.

Honestly, if America ever embraces me for anything, I'm gonna tell the country as a whole to kiss my ass.
