We Didn't Start the Fire
It was always burning, since the world's been turning.
So yeah, I had this dream the other night where I was an officer in the US Army and I was sitting on a plane with some men talking about how the world war had started. Apparently, a bunch of us believed that Fox News had lied about a North Korean attack on Japan in order to keep the conservative government in power longer. Not wanting to be outdone, the other networks starting picking up the "conflict" and soon all kinds of stories and scoops were being presented about an escalating conflict in the Pacific. Naturally, we were going to "kick some ass."
I just kept saying, "I won't go! I won't go! I'm not leading all of my men to die for some stupid fucking conflict that won't mean a goddamn thing twenty years from now. First Vietnam, then Iraq, then Iran, and now this shit. I won't go!"
"I'm not going to have a bunch of America's young men, dying so people can have the freedom to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars on a single party while I get shot at for 500 bucks a month."
Anyhow, I was really pissed off when I woke up and I wanted to go back to sleep so I could kill some of the people who made the decisions which put myself and my men in danger. Fucking dreams, sometimes.
We started talking about how when we "got back" we wouldn't be starting families and living the American dream, but that we were going to form a group to topple the power system that abused us.
