Anne wants to cook tonight, but I have no idea what to cook. By default we have made Wednesday our day to cook a meal together. Last week we made a scallop, shrimp, and white wine pasta. The week before we made a thai fish and rice meal.
We were thinking about making a soulfood type of meal. In celebration of Martin Luther King Jr's bday, and Obama's inauguration. One small dilemma is that Anne is vegetarian so there wont be any meat or meat juice in the dishes. Which in my opinion takes a lot of the soul out of the dishes, lol. My mom uses some kind of meat grease or juice in every dish, along with a meat product. So the only thing that I have made for Anne is baked mac n cheese. Which she goes crazy about because her family had never made mac n cheese that way.
Anne and her family never cooked together. Plus, she says "her food was always bland so what was the point of learning how to make it?"
One thing is that we only have about half of the ingredients needed to make baked mac n cheese. The main things that we dont have are the noodles and milk, lol.
Another problem is that I need something to go with the baked mac n cheese. Anne only ate mac n cheese by itself as a meal. Which is something that I have never done. Baked mac n cheese was always a side dish. Anne told me that stove top mac n cheese would be their whole meal. I swear living with her is always a cultural shock, and vice versa.
The other problem is that one of us is going to have to go to the store. And I hate going to Walmart between the hours of 11am-8pm because its always crowded.
Plus, I dont want to go out in the cold again. Right now its 7 degrees which is the highest it has been in a week. I should just make my sous chef do all the errands because she will be out in that area because she will be at work. And it will make her feel useful because she never feels like she is being useful. I always just about do everything, but I do let her chop and stir at times, lol.
These pictures were from a day that we made a sugar cookie pie dessert thingy at Joe's apartment. Then we went to Olive Garden to fill our mouths with loveliness. The first picture is a nice scilian pasta that my pretend 60+ yr bf made for me. Which I wish that I had in my mouth right now. Anyways, I guess I will eventually figure something out. Until, then I'm going to take a nap.
