Haha I can totally see you becoming completely crazy because of erroneous details on TV that fall under the area of your specialty. I can't think of a specific example where I've done that myself, but there are things on TV that bug me. For instance, people on TV for some inane reason always say, "the both." Like, "It should take the both of us." WTF? One should never say, "the both."

Oh, man, Boston Legal maybe would drive you crazy. LOL I didn't know you watch that show. It's funny. My primary reason for really enjoying it is the Alan/Denny relationship. I find it so fascinating. They're completely straight, but completely devoted to each other. It's cute. What I've noticed more than anything on this show is how culturally apt it is. I took this phenomenal class in college called the Rhetoric of TV and Film, in which I learned that TV is a direct reflection of our culture and many shows make social and political statements with their content. Boston Legal always has these cases dealing with global warming, war, pregnancy, etc., etc. Every week listening to Alan's closing argument I feel like we get a little public service announcement. That's something I really enjoy about this show.

They should pay us for how much time and energy we spend watching and analyzing TV. ;)

By the way, I finally got your e-mail! It was in the bulk mail. Thank goodness. I almost deleted it again without looking (it's crazy how instinct works, it's so automatic), but then looked and saw it! It may take me several days to get back to you. My life is so incredibly busy right now (dealing with the repercussions from my wreck last week has been insane and so exhausting), especially with Christmas and everything right around the corner, but I will respond soon.

*hugs*

oh yeah, don't mess with law on my watch! ;) all other annoyances about tv inconsistencies are nothing comparing to the offended lawyer in me, lol.

yeah, I watch BL - am very behind, though (the end of S2). it somehow upsets me too, but less than this error from Bones, because this series doesn't treat itself seriously so I can't stay mad for too long. besides, I'm not pretending I'm an expert in American law - far from that, actually - so for me it's more about observing this totally different law culture than watching out for mistakes :P. but some stuff still bug me - e.g. they win too many cases. there are really only a few cases they lost and in my opinion they should've lost at least a few more because their reasoning wasn't very solid and they mostly played off on the jury's emotions and lack of specialistic knowledge. actually I loved the epi where this particular aspect of American law was explored in Bones - the one where they almost lost the case because Brennan couldn't 'connect' with the jury and the jurors were bored thus more inclined to believe the opposite side. I find it fascinating because in my country it looks quite different. it's like American law isn't really about law per se but about common people's perception of the law. Polish law is less about fancy speeches because in most cases judges make the ruling not the jury and they're not as easily... impressed as normal people by the lawyers. it lessens the 'making a show' factor that's so evident in BL.

I like Alan/Denny relationship too - you're right, they're so devoted to each other... true friends :). I also like that from time to time they wink in audience's direction and say something like 'I can't wait for the next week'. these kind of remarks make me smile every time :).

'They should pay us for how much time and energy we spend watching and analyzing TV. ;)' - oh yes, they SHOULD! :D

glad you got my email finally :). I hope there is a way for you to stop any of my future emails landing in your junk mais, because it could get pretty frustrating for both of us if we go through this dance every time I send you something ;). don't worry about not replying immediately - I totally understand being busy, you know that *HUGS*.

OMG, your icon is LOVE! :D

Yeah, one thing I noticed pretty quickly is how the Crane, Poole, and Schmidt firm seem to win almost all of their cases. Did you ever watch The Practice? Boston Legal was a spin-off of The Practice. It was all about a Boston firm too, but was much darker and they lost about as many as they won. I really liked that show. Boston Legal is quirkier. And yes! I completely love whenever Denny especially talks directly to the audience. Usually on their season premieres and finales they'll do something
and it's so fun.

I agree with you about American law. Sometimes it seems a person's whole fate is decided by people who have absolutely no law experience at all.

yes, I like this icon too :). wow, I actually have 2 Roswell icons! never thought it would happen - I constantly feel that I have too few icons about my current obsessions (SPN, SGA, Jack/Foxy), so the sole fact that I was able to squeeze in two Roswell ones, at least for now, makes me feel great :D.

yeah, I've seen some of The Practice... didn't know that BL was a spin-off of it, it's SO different O.o I liked The Practice, a lot - not only it seemed quite real, it had Dylan McDermott and I found him... enjoyable to watch :P. but Polish tv didn't air many episodes of this series and I had to give it up quite early - I think it was still in S1. maybe I'll try to revisit some time :).

Okay, when I get back in town next week, I am going to make it a point to track down all the icons that I want to use - from Roswell, Chuck, Moonlight, and probably still a couple of Lost ones - and clean up and update my icons. I am so bad about it mostly because I'm just not on my laptop that much, which is where I have to do it. That Christmas Roswell icon, though, was so appropriate. That was one of the handfull of episodes from S2 that I really loved. OMG, the sweetness of that last scene. *swoon*

Yep, BL is a spin-off of The Practice. Alan was on The Practice for the last season or so, when a lot of the long-term cast members were leaving, then they brought Denny on the show some in the spring of that final year. Alan ended up joining Denny's firm at the end of The Practice and the rest is history.

I loved The Practice. It was just so unpredictable, creepy, and good. I actually don't think I saw the first season. I came in mid-run and used to watch it with my dad. You should definitely catch up on the later seasons. Sometimes it gets a little weird, some of the cases are kind of fetish-y, but it was a really good show. And yes, Dylan McDermott - yum. :p

yes, I loved the "I believe in you" scene :). the handholding was so beautiful *sighs*.

heh, it's funny how I upload my icons - I save them on my computer when I see them and, since I do as much *cough*more*cough* browsing at work as I do at home, I have two folders on two computers with icons that I'll use at some point (or not, lol). it's hilarious when I want to upload a specific icon - it's usually on the other computer, not the one I'm on at the moment :P.

thanks for explaining about The Practice/BL connection. it's no wonder I didn't have any idea, lol, after watching so few epis of The Practice.
