Is this the end? (O________O) *shakes head and begs - no*
As always, you take the most INCREDIBLE of situations and circumstances and manage to make them believable, even when they are twisted and painful in their contortions.
I am now going to go and curl up in a ball and drown myself in my own tears. Thank you very much for writing this realistic, heart-wrenching, gutting, and "lovely" story.
*stumbles off in a daze while slow clapping attempts commence even while tears continue falling*
Thank you so much! Heh. Actually, this was originally part one of a two part story, but my original thoughts on where to take things after this don't work for me anymore- so if there is more, it won't be for a while...
Yeah... I didn't realize that I could read something that would actually manage to traumatize me MORE on a visceral level than watching the canon already did, but you certainly managed. ;)
I do wonder now where they go from here (and well, I'll be honest, LAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAUUUUUURAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! *sobs*), and oh, now that I've gathered my pieces a bit more together now, I liked how you played around with the idea of "home" thematically with Bill and Laura in the flashbacks - especially since we know where exactly that went with regards to their relationship by the end of the show in canon-verse. I just, *am still rather shell-shocked by all the trauma*...
Muhahahaha, erh, -cough- I gave extra warnings on the Epics post that nothing good happens to Laura here... Nothing particularly wonderful would happen in a continuation either.
What happens in the flashbacks was originally a bit different, but I am quite glad with the home theme that managed to keep popping up for the end product. Glad you enjoyed that element as well!
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this! (and all the other pieces)
So glad you enjoyed this. Unfortunately, a sequel is even more unlikely than when I first finished this story. I've gotten busy with a lot of other things, and I have no idea when I'd return to this, or just fanfic in general.
That's perfectly fair. I'm just getting back into fanfic after a long period of life being crazy, so I completely get "busy."
It's a fascinating story, though.
Would you be upset if I tried to write a fic that explores some of the same ideas? I'm really interested in trying to figure out how Roslin (and everyone else) would react if she came back from New Caprica with such obvious scarring. I'd be sure to credit your fic as the inspiration.
Not at all, go for it! I always love seeing other peoples' interpretations of similar ideas.
I've even got a few unfinished fic on my computer that explore the idea of her coming back with different kinds of injuries.. it's a topic that fascinated me for a long time too.

Glad you could enjoy this despite the tears.
