Okay, well Sean has given me the letter 'L', so here goes -
1)Lilliputian - well, obviously, they are small but have strength in numbers! Plus, it's fun to say. Although I'm not sure whether or not I spelled it correctly.
2)lascivious - 'nuff said?
3)Lurex - hot, bi Germans in nightclubs. That's what it makes me think of.
4)lodestar - I think this is one of the most beautiful words. I don't know, it just evokes such lovely images. It makes me think of navigating way out at sea on a night of deepest blue velvet, illuminated with a blanket of sparkling stars, the salt breeze and sound of the ocean gently lapping. And then the guiding star transforms itself into the thoughts of humans, into a concept or principle from which a web of thought spins out.
5)lambaste - a must for any fandom.
6)latent - something which is latent signifies secret potential, and unknown potential makes me think of the mysteries of the universe, or of a caterpillar in its cocoon.
7)labyrinthine - anything twisty and tricky can be exciting and interesting.
8)landlubber - all seafaring terms can be pirate terms in the blink of an eye. Arr!
9)Luftwaffe - every kid who studies German at school starts out with maybe three or four German words already in their vocabulary, and Luftwaffe is the most amusing of them. Everybody likes to say it. It also reminds me of my yr 10 History class, because we studied the World Wars then. We had such a lovely teacher. She was the older sister of one of the guys in yr 12, and she was a sweetie. She was doing her mandatory year at a shithouse school before she could go and work somewhere decent, and we all appreciated her.
