Don't fucking compare your baby to mine

My major pet peeve these days is people telling me about how their or someone else's baby did such and such at a certain time, usually immediately after asking me if Gus is doing that yet. For example, I'm at Best Buy today and the check-out lady asks how old Gus is, to which I say "9 months" and then she asks if he's walking yet, which he's not. Then she tells me how her kid walked at 9 1/2 months. Now I don't care who you are, that's trying to make your baby look better than mine. I also get this feeling when people tell me anything about how other babies are, like they are trying to imply that mine somehow doesn't measure up. Like my mom telling me about how great my cousin's little kid is, and how he can just sit and play by himself. This wouldn't be a big deal except for 1) it's my mom and she's judgemental and 2) she tells me this while Gus is being cranky and needs to be held. I hate the one-up game in general and it really fucking pisses me off when it gets done about my kid. The end.
