Hm. I suppose I've given you all enough time to simmer before throwing you into the boiling pot.

Tomorrow, I want all students to meet me in the fields outside of Tetha.

Those of you who can already cast offensive or ranged spells... good. Just focus on using those.

Because you'll be firing it at the ones who can't.

magi, great teacher gaav san, log post

... Are you really sure you should be using students as targets for practice?

Why not?

The ones that can need to find out how to aim, and the ones who can't need to know to dodge.

... And how expensive do you expect the hospital bills for the ones who don't figure out how to dodge quickly enough will be?

For that matter, shouldn't we have had some class sections for teaching newer students about this first?

I've authorized the class, Meg. There's nothing to worry about. I DO teach a class on the basics of magic, after all, and I do teach magical barriers as one of the first things a student learns, along with basic cantrips.

Well, I guess...

But to set the defining factor for what you practice as being based on achievement, when different students have arrived at different times seems a little... Well, quite a few things, actually...

I do see where you're coming from, but I stand by my decision.

The threats in the digital world aren't going to wait because our students are inexperienced. It's hardly fair, but this class is designed to prepare students for what the world has to throw at them.

I'm going to be on hand to oversee the exercise, and there will be medical staff on hand as well. Our students will be safe. At the end of the day, the only thing hurt will be their pride. ... And maybe some lingering soreness.

... I guess... But at the least, we should probably provide focused catch-up courses, so that those on the receiving end get their turn as soon as possible. Otherwise, we're teaching two different lessons to different groups, and that...

What's the matter? Afraid to risk the student's lives?

Or is it something you think even YOU are incapable of?

... Of course I'm afraid to risk the student's lives, especially when you seem to be taking pleasure from it!

... And I'm not letting you goad me into doing something stupid!

I'm half Mazoku. I feed on that sort of thing.

I see.

You're chicken.

... And I'm a Succubus. I feed off of making out with and/or doing it with people. That does not excuse me organizing things that suit said innate fancy, no matter what my former 'employer' would care to say.

... But I can tell how this will end. So you know what? I'll be there. How's about a proper game of Spellcaster's Dodgeball as a teaching tool?

My lesson plan will remain as is, thank you.

But maybe on another day.
