Actually, it's a designer show. Twelve designer have to tackle a design challenge each week and have models present their stuff on a runway to a jury. It's funny because most of the designers are complete prats, and the challenges are really wacky, like collecting old broken umbrellas and using only their fabric for a dress.
Haha, I first overread the whole retail store part and was wondering why the fuck they were going on about how nobody would wear that stuff, because isn't high fashion always exactly like that? Then I reread and it made sense all of a sudden! *facepalm*
LOL. BUt yeah, that's part of it's appeal. The other host is the owner of a Canadian retail store chain, so it's all about wearability, and so many of them just don't get it and get bitchslapped *eg*
God, I love Iman. My most-hated designer was one time going on about how she had made a dress that was supposed to be all "tacky goth style, real cheap" for a challenge (she's totally pseudo-artsy, ugh), and Iman totally cut her down, saying that goth isn't tacky, but "a legitimate look", her dress looks cheap because her design was bad. Heh.
I never got the whole appeal about the runway shit anyway. Not the horrible stuff they are presenting, and nothing else really. They should show off stuff which is wearable. Meh. Whatever. I find it much more lovely to see models in "normal" clothes. Makes most of them way prettier/more beautiful as well when they are not stuck in some ridiculous shit nobody wants to be seen dead in anyway.
