On with my SO damned interesting journal...
*hearts Ian Hart* What a GREAT Watson!! The only thing that annoyed me was that in both version they tried to make him less attractive than he (the actor) is, so he wouldn't divert attention from Holmes *argh* Didn't work out too well - he was still a cutie. And so very in character - intellingent, brave, a man of action, loyal, caring *sighs* The only thing I disliked was that they didn't bring out the friendship between Holmes and him. They're best buddies, come on! In the canon they're being sweet all the time. Another note: Ruper Everett, OHEMMGEE *squees* So great! Not perfect, but still great :) There were many times when I was like "Gosh, this *is* my Holmes!" On the other hand I can't count how many times I was rooting for John and throwing my fists in the air to cheer him on *lol* I love the fact that they are true to his character and make him out as just as much of a hero as Holmes. If just the strange coldness between them wouldn't exist *sigh* But thankfully both versions were subtly slashy. Heh. Richard Roxburgh wasn't bad, either, but it took some time to get used to a blonde, pudgy Holmes *rolls eyes* And why the fuck does NOBODY EVER do a movie version of the Hound that's true to the canon? And what kind of stupid SFX did they use for the poor beast? That looked absolutely ludicrous. Okay, sorry *lol* Stopping already. Just wanted to say that on the whole I'm really happy about the movies, and hope there will be another one with Ian - and Rupert, maybe? *puppy dog eyes*
