This is a little late considering I've been back in the U.S. for almost a week now. I'm not in the mood to be poetic or insightful, I just want to kill time before the 4th of July party tonight. So here goes:

Everyone who's studied abroad told me over and over again how weird it would feel to be back home. And all I could think about the last few days before I got back was how weird it was going to feel. I actually felt nervous to go back home. I don't know how to explain why. I think I was just scared that I had been gone so long that it would take a while for home to feel like home again and I didn't want to go through another adjustment period. But the weirdest thing was that none of this was true. As soon as I came back, it felt as if I had never left. And that was probably even a bit weirder than what I was expecting, but pleasantly surprising too.

Moved into the new house. Well, sort of. About half of my room is here and the other half is at Lakeview. Which is a little annoying, but the act of moving usually is. It's not a perfect house with granite tops and what not, but I really do think that once we fix it up (well, once scott fixes up the things I don't like about our room and once the realty people send someone to fix things like the broken ice maker and locks), it will be pretty cool. I'm much more optimistic than I thought I would be upon moving in here. No, it won't be perfect. Living with 7 other people in one house never is. But I think it will have its good moments. Hopefully one of those will be tonight.
