Let me start this journal by saying I enjoy fandom-based events and recognizing talent within the fandom.  The key word being within.

The idea is good, but you're right. It should be fandom based things only. Toy Story 3 won best animated film at the Academy Awards. They won't care in the least about a silly online award. (Though I'm surprised you don't want it to win. I know you did voice work for Trixie. I KNOW YOU DID.)

But there are so many fanom centric awards that would mean a lot more to small time artists and performers than it would for major things like How to Train Your Dragon. Why not a fursuit maker (professional/journeyman/etc) category, or convention based categories (best panel, best con suite, etc), or something that could possible benefit the actual fandom? Hell, even best furry-themed web video. Sub categories of fursuit, animated, etc. Promote artists and creators and performers!

There already is the FFFF tourney for fursuits, which mostly is a popularity contest more than performance and aesthetics. Fursuits in general bring drama when voting comes into the picture. Popufur won FNL in 2009 and since then FNL has had a "everyone wins yaaay (expect really no one wins)" policy since a ton of people baww-ed about the results.

I just kinda' threw fursuit out there as an example, but you are right, the possibilities are endless!

And I think your memory of my voice is distorted. ;)
