ast night I went here:
http://www.calendar.ucla.edu/event_detail.cfm?MeetingID=117626 It was fantastic. I have a major girl crush on Jenny Lewis. i can't help it, I've always wanted to find those dinosaurs from "The Wizard" for myself. Anybody want to road trip it? Anyway, Shane you would have cried little happy tears when she walked out on stage. She was luminous.
Mountain Goats opened it up. They played a pretty quiet set but wrapped it up with This Year. sa-weet.
Jake Gyllenhaal was a no show. I have now been stood up by both him and Heath Ledger. Brokeback bastards. Tom K. from The Office was there instead. He was wearing a blazer with jeans. I wish Cake would have done a song about men in long jeans and a short blazer.
And finally, Dave Eggers touched me. It was heartbreaking and startling and....yes, that's right....genius.
everyone should check out this:
http://www.826la.org/ I'm going to start volunteering for this program even though it's in Venice. I got all insssssspired last night. Seriously, if you are in any of the cities where there is an 826 program, check it out. It's fantastic.
