They could completely lose contact otherwise; offering him a job with the family business in Nix's home town is a pretty good way of keeping him close :-)

Ha. Exactly. Nixon has a PLAN! Which is a perfect move for his character who, as I've been saying all along, is the one who really keeps the relationship alive. He's such a sweetheart and he knows himself well enough to know that he doesn't want to lose Winters.

And Winters clearly feels the same way, he just operates differently.

I'm always saying that I don't like to mix BoB with the stories of the real men, because I do think they should be treated differently. But this seems a good time to hop over the line and give you a quote from the real Winters. In his book, he talks about Nixon leaving Europe (before Winters did). "Nixon departed Joigny (France) the next week, making me about as lonesome as a lovesick sailor who married a Wave on an eight-hour pass." *g* Definitely one of my favorite quotes from the real men.

I could picture Kitty opening up her present and saying "thanks honey!" while secretly wondering what the f*ck she was supposed to do with 16 knives and 4 forks and 7 spoons. I hope they divided it up more strategically later on, is all I'm sayin' ;-)

Ha! This is why I secretly in my head call my recaps a Girl's Guide to Band of Brothers. Because only you and I and other women would think of that. I totally agree. I was like "Ok, Harry you are very sweet but she doesn't just want random pieces of silverware. And for god's sake don't put it in your helmet! Don't you know how easily silver scratches?"
