Floridian moving to Maryland
I can't even tell you how excited I was to find that this group existed. :) Hi there, Maryland!
My fiance recently got a job at Goddard Space Flight Center in, as y'all probably know, Greenbelt. We're moving at the end of this year from Florida, and needless to say, we're very excited about it! We're both looking for a change, and considering that I was born and raised in Florida (and I hate this state like you couldn't imagine), I'm ready to get out of here.
I've never been to Maryland, and FH has only been there a few times for family (who all live in Silver Spring). We're not sure where to live, what all goes on there, and how we're going to make friends aside from those at work or through his family. I'm planning to join a Pagan meetup group similar to the ones that I'm a part of in Orlando, but FH isn't really into that kind of stuff, and is depending on work friends to hang out and show him the Maryland ropes.
So basically, what I'm asking you all is... where do you live? Where do you recommend? What is your favorite thing to do in the Maryland/DC area? What is your favorite thing about Maryland/DC? What should we be prepared for, other than extreme cold, when we move there in late December? And anything else; feel free to let this Florida girl know everything!
Also, I'll be searching for work when we move there. I'm starting the search now, but considering that I'm a long-distance candidate at the moment, it's been pretty rough. I'm a paralegal, so if anyone has any job leads I can follow up on when we move there, that'd be great. :)
