Tale of two candidates

Oct 28, 2008 14:15

Let me start this by stating, for the record, that I have not partaken of the kool-aid that both parties are pimping. I've always voted independent. That being said... I still haven't decided who to vote for. Here are my basic beliefs:

I'm pro-choice.

I believe in the Second Amendment.

I believe that there should be a clear separation between church and state.

I believe that any two consenting adults in a committed relationship should have the legal rights "marriage" entails.

I believe that the health care system is fundamentally broken, and needs repairs that START with reregulation of the health insurance industry, not socializing medicine.

I believe that the bureacracy in our government has become so unwieldy that the Peter Principle now extends all the way to the presidency.

And here's what I've picked up (anecdotes and observations):

Joe Biden's elevator doesn't go to the top floor. He has even talked about the fundamental changes in his personality after his anurysm surgery.

Every person I've ever met that was born and raised in Alaska is a fucking whack job (someone once said to me that Alaska is the last stop on the Schizoprenic Train).

Some of Obama's rhetoric sounds frighteningly Marxist.

McCain couldn't have been a POW for as long as he was and not have some sort of psychic damage. I have reservations about what is not said about that time in his life.

Obama's ideas of growing government in the face of a recession don't make sense.

McCain's Lexington Project sounds like lip service.

What's a girl to do?
