It was morning, and he was hiding from it, because it would kill him. He had woken last night a changed man, a demon. He was going to live forever. Staring down at his own grave had been strangely humorous to him. William was no more. That foppish idiot of a human had been destroyed, and from the ashes Spike had been born, resurrected to live anew.
Resurrection was in the blood, his sire’s blood. She was like a dark angel, sloughing away the chaff and creating something brilliant from the tiny seed that was left, his Drusilla.
But it still hurt. Now it would hurt others who would pay. Because he was born anew.
