waiting for clothes to dry

The question now is whether I should bring two books or just one. Actually, it'd be three books or four, since the guidebook is sort of a must because of our lack of actual planning, and the dictionary is also essential.

The one material sorrow in my leaving is now that my iPod is no longer broken, it is also no longer in Europe. If I was leaving Germany two days later, I could have it with me the next month. As it is, I am hoping this means I will get a lot more reading done. There is something fundamentally appealing to me about sitting on trains and connecting the changing landscape to the progressing chords, but what can you do. Jacky will let me use hers from time to time, and somehow I have got to try to start summer semester with my German not worse off than it was at the end of winter semester. Thats always the fear with leaving Germany.

Planning what you are going to be packing around with you for an extended period of time is a strange thing. Take the towel so small that you wouldn't be able to walk out of a hostel shower stall wrapped in it. It takes up less space. Take the shirts least likely to soak up grime. You'll be able to wear them a couple of times.

It doesn't help that I haven't a clue what the weather is going to be like. I keep checking weather sites but they aren't really much help, especially when I am trying to look a month ahead. I really don't want to bring my winter coat- is that going to be a bad idea? Can I get away with leaving the rain jacket at home?

At least my camera is safe. My two most important posessions the next month- my passport and my camera.
