One of my main frustrations with
Doctor Who and the Dawn of the Daleks is how many people stopped reading after Chapter 8. I scoured the chapter again and again for some flaw, some typo, some mistake that would explain why so many stopped at that point.
Now as I see the same thing happening again as I repost the story on
FanFiction.net, I think I see the weakness. A weakness in the eyes of my readers, actually. And not in me.
It is made abundantly clear in Chapter 8 that my OC female, Security Liaison, is in love with Commander Nyder, and it is also made clear that he is not interested in returning the emotion; in fact he will stand by and see her tortured with no empathy at all.
And that's the story-killer, I think. That I would write a story in which a character like Nyder would not be instantly redeemed by love.
