Hi! So I was wondering if anyone had seen Tiger Warsaw and had an opinion about it? I've read the amazon reviews but only one mentions Mary and it only says she wasn't in the film enough :( Thinking about purchasing it but you guys are so knowledgeable and very helpful I thought someone might have an opinion! Also does anyone know where you can ( Read more... )

I'm sorry, sweets. I recently removed all the movies from TheNerdVoice because of drama that was occurring on Tumblr (I may reupload them to another place at another time, I shall let the group know). However, I am a registered Mary movie expert.

Tiger Warsaw is just terrible. It was an obvious "money job" type of movie. Mary was pregnant with her daughter throughout the entire thing and they made little to no effort to try to conceal her belly when the character herself isn't pregnant. The movie has no real plot, no one is actually likable. They had 3 Irish people attempt to play a Polish family (Piper Laurie being the actual Pole within the 4 main family members), since I am Polish-American it was very obvious that they weren't. It was nice to hear Mary say little bits of Polish though. Half the time you're just like..."Why did they do that and why is she so mean" and they never really explain it. You would think with a decent cast like that (though Mary wasn't a "big name" in the 80s) it may be half decent, but it wasn't. However, it may just be worth the watch just to laugh...maybe a drinking game can be made of it. Every time someone is out of frame, take a drink. You'll be drunk in the first 10 minutes of the movie.

I loved The American Clock. I'm a big Arthur Miller fan, so this just made me grin from ear to ear. Her role isn't huge, but essential and her last monologue at the end of the movie is absolutely fantastic and an amazing bit of acting on her part. Not only did she have to do this Bronx well-to-do accent, she changed it as things happened. It was made for the stage and there was little changing with it, but I still enjoyed it. It may have even made me enjoy it more.

Drama? Hmmm...ok. But based on your review I'm even more curious about the movie haha! You can get it on amazon for a couple dollars so I may just order to see how bad it is. Afterall, it is a piece of the Mary Collection and I'm a tiny bit ocd about complete collections. So American Clock has never been released on dvd then? I'd like to see Killer Hair too but those dvds are not in the correct Region so I don't know that they'd play on my bluray. Anyways, thanks and since you're an expert if there's something I definitely should not miss please let me know? Thanks!
