I wrote this about a week ago, and I originally just had it archived on my writing journal, but my dear friend
multicolour suggested that I cross-post it here. So, here I am.
I've always loved Independence Day, and Mary's character sort of drew me in, however, as I'm sure you all agree, she really doesn't have enough screen time in the film, and yet somehow, we all cry during that scene. She's that good at pulling on the emotions of the audience.
Well, this idea grabbed me and it wouldn't let me go. It's in no way a "fixit" for the film, just a little subtle character worship and a healthy dose of angst.
