LabCorp uses weekend only employees. They are called Baylors because Baylor University Hospital was the first place to use that scheme. In my section, our 2 Baylors get paid 40 hours for working 24. They come in around noon on Saturday and Sunday and keep the start of the week from being so incredibly heavy. I am hoping that when one of them decides s/he is tired of that deal, (they are both the weekday childcare in their families) that I will get a weekend-only position. I think I would love it.
Nick sets up my test on Saturday. He wanted to be off last Saturday and our director didn't want the work to wait for me to catch it up, so I was asked to come set up some time during the weekend. I could come in on Saturday, but because of the holiday would not get OT for it, or I could come in on Sunday and either get OT or take another day off during the week when there was a regular tech to cover my bench. I chose to work Sunday and be off today.
Usually when I have a free day in the work week I go to W-S to loaf while
veracity1 works and then I get a dinner date.
BUT, work was really light at the beginning of the week because of the holiday and I only stayed there half a day on Tuesday. So, I went to W-S used one of the massages from the GC that was in my stocking and was taken out for dinner at Hutch & Harris. (If you go there, get the Big Hook Tuna. I am NOT kidding. It's wonderful.) And Chuck is coming home tonight, so driving over there for both of us to come home later is kinda silly.
And it's cleaning day.
And Wild Child had a 2 hours school delay due to weather so we got to sleep later than usual.
So, here I sit, trying to figure out what to do with my day.
I have told the kid that I will let him get a haircut and go to Wal-Mart for hair dye while I go to the gym when he gets home from school around 4:30. The rest of the day is totally up to me.
I'm inclined to take the laptop to
Open Eye and drink latte all afternoon.
