Chapter 6
The smell of food woke Yoochun up from his comfortable slumber. Jaejoong liked to cook when he was tired, when he was stressed out and when he was angry. He liked sex at those times too, but it seemed that today only cooking would help. And true to his assumptions Yoochun found that his kitchen had been transformed into a local bakery with pans and pots all over the place and food was frying, simmering and cut. Crazy. He didn’t think he’d ever seen so much food at once. There were probably more than a hundred dishes. Or something like that.
“Are you having guests over for dinner?” Yoochun asked when Jaejoong didn’t seem like he’d noticed his friend walking into the kitchen.
“Oh that’s a good idea.” Jaejoong placed a plate of food in front of Yoochun and smiled a little bit. “Invite some of your friends. We’ll have dinner with people tonight. Nice way to stop thinking.” Jaejoong said brightly. “I knew I kept you around for a reason.”
This hadn’t been what Yoochun had had in mind when he’d asked, but he picked up the chopsticks that were placed next to his plate and started eating, deciding it was better not to disturb a Jaejoong who was trying to repress all his thoughts and annoyance and he was all for good food placed in front of him.
“Sure it’s only because I have bright ideas?”
“Yeah, what else?” Jaejoong barely spared Yoochun a glance before hasting back to his food.
“I have to go to work today though. I have a fitting.” Yoochun jumped out of the chair. “I’ll be back for dinner and I’ll bring friends with me. You might want to clean up too.” Walking over to Jaejoong he placed a hand on the small of his back caressing him softly.
“Fine, fine. Now get out of the way. I need to make food now, we’re having guests over. Go away.” And Yoochun did.
~…~…~
Today was another day at Yunho’s mercy and Yoochun found that he liked the other man. They spent the day getting fitted.
“I’m surprised your boyfriend let you out of his sight.” A snarky voice said behind him and Yoochun turned around to see Changmin talking to him.
“I don’t have a boyfriend, but if you’re referring to Jaejoong, he doesn’t really care about anything.” Yoochun winced at the harshness of his own words. But it was true, Jaejoong didn’t really care about Yoochun, and everyone knew it. Or well that was exceptionally harsh, when thinking about how the only person Jaejoong probably did care about was Yoochun.
“Ah, I thought as much.” Changmin’s voice was sad too and Yoochun narrowed his eyes for a moment. This wasn’t expected at all.
“I left him at home this morning. He was cooking for a hundred people, and I’m sure we’ll just end up being five people for dinner or something like that.” Yoochun shrugged Changmin some slack. Whatever it was Jaejoong had going with the younger man it wasn’t his feud and he couldn’t really be bothered with it.
“I thought, you said, he wasn’t your boyfriend?” Changmin said raising an eyebrow.
“He’s not. What’s it to you though? I thought you didn’t want him?” Yoochun raised a matching eyebrow and saw how Changmin’s face faltered into an ugly grimace.
“I don’t.” He simply said.
“Well then, why do you care?”
“I don’t.” This conversation was being a bit pointless if you asked Yoochun and he was therefore glad about the interruption.
“Yoochun.” He turned at the sound of his name and saw Yunho standing next to them. “Were you just inviting Changmin to our dinner tonight? I’m sure, he’d love to be there. Jaejoong just called and informed me I had to be there and bring my wife along with me.” Yunho laughed, and Yoochun didn’t even have a chance to say that he wasn’t inviting Changmin.
“Dinner at Jaejoong’s place? And he’s cooking?” Changmin looked a bit sceptically at Yunho.
“Oh, don’t look like that. Jae knows that the way to a man’s heart and then into his pants, is through the stomach. And that every girl loves a man who can cook for her. He took cooking lessons and cooks, whenever he feels like it.” Yunho explained with a shrug.
“Oh. Uhm.” Changmin looked around, and Yoochun was glaring. It might be Jaejoong’s feud, but he was definitely always on Jaejoong’s side, no matter how much it amused him to see his friend in misery.
“You should come Changmin. He’d love to see you there.” Yunho was smirking. What was going on here? Yunho never did things like these, scheming and smirking. “Now you two, enough talking, I still have an outfit for each of you. Even though technically, Changmin, you’re off this thing. I traded you.”
“I know. Jaejoong informed me of that.” Changmin’s cheeks went slightly red, and no one would have noticed if it wasn’t because Yoochun’s eyes were on this man’s face to figure out, what he was thinking.
After work they all made their way to Jaejoong’s flat. Yunho with his wife, Yoochun and Changmin following. This was weird. When Yoochun had gone home with Jaejoong last night, he had expected that they’d had a lot of hot and angry sex, but once his friend had started cooking he knew that it was a bad thing. A very bad thing.
They knocked on the door, Yoochun very nervous about the fact that Changmin was with them. Why was he even? Yunho had been quite insistent throughout their day, and in the end all Changmin could say was yes. Didn’t Yunho know, what was going on? The older man always seemed to know what was going on with everyone, but either he was missing something huge in this case, or he just didn’t care.
“Yoochun, Yunho.” Jaejoong greeted and then stopped. “You.” His eyes hardened and then softened a bit as he spotted Yunho’s wife.
“Eugene!” The happiness of seeing his friend was almost made him forget Changmin was there, and he stepped out the door, bent down and hugged the smaller woman tightly. “It’s good to see you.” He lifted her slightly and was about to spin her a little, when he remembered the news Yunho had given him. He sat the woman down next to her husband kissing her cheek happy to see her again.
“Come on in.” Jaejoong let them all inside, Yunho happily talking, Yoochun deciding he’d better do something for this not to be awkward, and Eugene instantly taking Jaejoong’s arm insisting on helping him with the last few things.
“I can’t believe you didn’t invite me, hyung.” Junsu’s voice was heard as soon as they walked into the living room and Yoochun instantly relaxed and smiled.
“Oh I didn’t know how you’d feel about hanging out with your boss in your spare time.” Yoochun settled down on the couch and popped his feet on the table.
“It’s okay. He’s kind of nice.” Junsu smiled sweetly and at that Yoochun started laughing.
“You’re probably the only person I know who’d say Jaejoong is kind of nice.” He laughed again and rolled his eyes. “Everyone else keeps saying how much of a jerk he is, but you say, he’s nice.” Yoochun had never heard one of Jaejoong’s employs call him nice. Because frankly Jaejoong wasn’t really that nice.
“Well, I think he’s nice. He called me and asked if I’d like to come here.” Junsu smiled when Yoochun sat down next to him.
“You’re weird.”
~…~…~
Jaejoong was in the kitchen with Eugene, when Changmin walked to stand in the door. Damn him for being here. And damn him for looking so downright sexy, when he was there. And damn him for coming into the room, when Eugene was there next to him. He couldn’t do anything when the nicest person, he knew, was standing right there listening.
“Yunho told me about the collection, you wanted to give me,” Eugene spoke as she stirred the sauce. She had her back turned towards Changmin and didn’t hear him standing there quietly.
“Ah. The man tells me to act surprised, when you’ll give me the happy news, yet he goes home and tells you that I want to give you a collection in relation to your news.” Jaejoong is careful not to mention anything in front of Changmin.
“Jaejoong,” Changmin spoke through gritted teeth, “can I help with anything?” at least he was polite and realised that he too couldn’t be too hostile towards the other man when they were with Yunho’s wife.
“No, we’ve got it all.” Jaejoong said slightly hostile in his tone, though Eugene spoke at the same time. “Yes, could you please take out the salad?” she asked him smiling sweetly handing him the salad. The woman didn’t really notice the cold air between the two men - or either she, just like her husband, didn’t care.
“Dinner is ready everyone.” Jaejoong announced a couple of minutes later after he, with Changmin’s and Eugene’s help, had managed to put all the food on the table.
~…~…~
Surprisingly enough Changmin turned out to be quiet, when he was eating, and when his stomach was full he was actually almost pleasant. Probably everyone around the table however was surprised to notice that dinner did go on without any problems. Maybe it was because of the generous amount of wine Jaejoong had flowing between them all during the meal.
“How did you first become a model?” Changmin’s question was directed towards Yoochun.
“Oh that’s a good story.” Yoochun smiled brightly. “We were in college. I was studying arts, but well. Jaejoong was designing a bit on the side, and one of his models decided to bail on him, so as the ever so friendly friend I am I offered to step in. I don’t need to ask how you got into it?” Yoochun was giving Changmin a few appreciative looks, which made Jaejoong growl.
“You know each other from university?” Changmin asked.
The conversation continued, and Jaejoong actually found that he was having fun and laughing at something Changmin had said. No. That wasn’t happening.
Yunho was the first to leave. Eugene had said she was getting tired, and of course Yunho jumped up immediately to help her get to bed early. They both thanked their host for the wonderful dinner and dessert, before going out the door.
Yoochun was next, he was going home to shower since he hadn’t been home for two days now, and he actually didn’t feel like staying at Jaejoong’s all the time.
Jaejoong now was alone with Junsu and Changmin. Which was oddly odd.
“So uhm.” Jaejoong didn’t usually have a problem starting a conversation, but this was Changmin, and he had no idea what to say to him. “Junsu, thanks for the help last night. I looked at the numbers, and they look good.” Talking about work would be safe.
“It was my pleasure hyung. I like working for you.” Junsu blushed and Jaejoong smiled. He liked it when people blushed.
“Good, did Yunho give you anything yesterday?”
“No, but he slipped it to me earlier today. I’ll look over it, but hyung, it really does look good.” Junsu said smiling sheepishly.
“Well, just let me know and if you can find anything like at our place, then please send me a summary.”
“Yeah sure.” The whole thing about merging the two firms would be a good idea if the numbers said so, but Jaejoong had no idea about numbers. Luckily of course Junsu did know about them.
Changmin felt a little bit like he was intruding on the conversation, but somehow he didn’t find the will in him to leave. He wanted to know more about Jaejoong. It was an odd need. Not one he’d felt in his previous encounters.
“Jaejoong, when did you become like you are now?” The venom in Changmin’s voice was evident. Despite his curiosity, he still wasn’t too happy about the man sitting in the couch across from him.
“What do you mean?” Jaejoong stiffened a bit. Changmin hadn’t spoken to him directly all evening except for usual polite things, but with Junsu being the only one here, they needed to speak apparently.
“I mean like you are now. Sleeping in a different bed every night. Tell me one thing. Is it worth it?” Changmin was getting angry. Why was he even getting angry?
Jaejoong stared with wide eyes at Changmin. “Get out of my home.” His voice was cold.
“Answer me.” Changmin got out of his chair.
“Why should I? What right do you even have to come here and ask me these questions? What’s it got to do with you?” Jaejoong was beyond angry now and all the cooking he’d done today, and the sex he’d had with Yoochun last night was not helping him.
“I want to know. How does it feel to be a slut?” Changmin asked the question anger evident in his eyes.
“It feels wonderful. Now how does it feel to be the jerk, who verbally attacked his boss in his own home?” Jaejoong asked getting angrier than he’d ever been.
Changmin seemed to sense the anger, because before long he’d stepped out of the door and slammed it shut behind him.
Jaejoong sat down on the couch staring at the ceiling. What was he supposed to do now? His blood was boiling. He felt like smashing something at the wall. Hit it hard. Do something to it. He picked up a bowl of fruit and violently shrugged the fruit to the floor about to smash the bowl at the wall, when a hand on his arm stopped him.
Fuck. Junsu. Junsu was still there, and Jaejoong had forgotten all about his presence in the room.
“Jaejoong, don’t let Changmin say those things to you. They’re not true after all.” Junsu said holding a firm grip on Jaejoong’s arm. The younger man had a firmer grip than Jaejoong would have ever thought.
“Let go of me.” Junsu wouldn’t let him though. He just kept the hold on the arm, before reaching over and taking the bowl placing it safely on the table. Jaejoong let himself be pushed to the couch and looked at the sweet man before him.
“Jaejoong, please, don’t listen to him. You’re sweet and nice and very talented. You’re worth way more, than he could ever know.” Jaejoong felt himself be comforted by the words of the younger man. He let himself be comforted. He almost believed the words. He almost believed that he was sweet, nice and talented, that he was worth something and it felt good. Because he wasn’t sad. He was angry. Yes. That was it.
“He was right.” Jaejoong said quietly. “He was very right.” He shifted slightly and felt an arm around his shoulders. It was kind of comforting.
“No, he wasn’t. Just because you don’t like being alone, it’s not a wrong thing.” As soon as the words left Junsu’s mouth he slapped his mouth quickly.
“What did you just say?” Anger boiled up in Jaejoong once again, as he stared at his assistant.
“No-no-nothing hyung. I just meant that you like being around people. You like people.” Junsu was speaking quickly starting to get slightly nervous.
“Yoochun told you?” Jaejoong was saddened by this. He hadn’t expected Yoochun to spill his secrets.
“No, he didn’t mean to. I promise, I won’t tell anyone. I’m sorry hyung. It’s not really a crime not liking to be alone. It’s okay.” Junsu’s voice was very soothing. What was it with his voice? It managed to soothe him and relax him in a way nothing else could and he found himself leaning closer.
“It’s okay. Don’t worry.” Jaejoong said quietly pressing his lips against the soft skin on Junsu’s throat.
“Okay. Hyung. Do you want me to stay here with you tonight? I can do that. Since Yoochun went home.” Junsu offered and he had no idea, what his offer was implying. Jaejoong didn’t think too much. He liked the arms around him, he liked the comfort of the voice speaking softly in his ear, and he definitely liked the closeness.
“Thank you.” Jaejoong said leaning in for a kiss. He desperately wanted a kiss.
His phone rang. Yoochun. He always had the most impeccable timing.
“What?” Jaejoong asked annoyed with the man for revealing his personal stuff to Junsu.
“Want me to come over? Or you can come here. I’m sorry, I left you all alone in there, but I needed to go home and get some clothes and all that.” Yoochun asked worried about his friend.
“No. I’m fine. Junsu is here.” Jaejoong didn’t feel like talking.
“Oh. Junsu? Hyung, be careful. Don’t do anything stupid.” Yoochun warned though Jaejoong just hung up. He didn’t feel like talking with his friend.
“You okay?” Junsu’s voice was concerned and he was stroking Jaejoong’s hair softly. As instincts and habits kicked in Jaejoong felt soft lips on his. He wasn’t really sure, who had initiated the kiss, but he was fairly sure he had. Because the way Junsu blushed and smiled sweetly, he sure as hell didn’t know how to initiate a kiss.
It was sweet, soft, comforting and everything Jaejoong had ever thought a kiss from Junsu would be like. The sweetness was too much, and they opened their mouths against each other letting their tongues tentatively taste the other. Softly Jaejoong traced his against Junsu’s lower lip biting and nibbling carefully.
Junsu’s hands found their way into Jaejoong hair, and he was pulled closer. Jaejoong was slightly surprised at that, but he welcomed it and welcomed it even more, when Junsu crawled on to his lap, and they fell back on the couch kissing.
Getting more into it Jaejoong let out his anger into the kiss. He bit harder on the lip that he had before and placed his hands on Junsu’s hips pulling him down roughly against himself. Bucking up his hips to meet the man, he dug his hands into the flesh above him.
Jaejoong bit once again. Hard. Harder than intended probably, because Junsu pulled away.
“Hyung. That hurt.” Junsu held a hand on his lip, and Jaejoong got back from his haze.
“Oh God Junsu. I’m sorry. That shouldn’t have happened. I shouldn’t have done that.” Pushing Junsu away from him slightly Jaejoong sat back up.
“Jaejoong. Don’t talk. Just kiss me again.” Junsu smiled sweetly.
“No. I can’t do that. Please, I don’t want to hurt you like that.” Jaejoong said softly.
“You don’t want to hurt me like you hurt Yoochun every day?” Junsu asked quietly his voice barely above a whisper.
“What do you mean, I hurt Yoochun? He likes it, when I bite his lip. And I’m sorry. I wasn’t thinking Junsu. I don’t want you to get hurt, because I hurt people when I’m with them.” Jaejoong said softly. He still had no idea why he even cared. Maybe it was because Junsu seemed so pure and un-ruined by anything, and Jaejoong didn’t want it to hang on him that he’d been the one to ruin such purity.
“No that’s not, what I meant. You hurt him all the time. He’s probably hurting right now, because you’re here with me. He’s probably hurt right now, because he knows I’m here, and he’s not. Hyung, he loves you so much, and he wants to be able to help you, and he wants to be happy with you.” Junsu knew it was probably out of his line to speak about this, but he wanted to let Jaejoong know.
“What are you talking about? Of course he loves me. I love him too. He’s my best friend.” Jaejoong said smiling softly at Junsu trying to make him understand.
“Yeah, but what I saw between the two of you wasn’t really like best friends. He’s in love with you, and you’re hurting him every time you kiss him. And you’re too stubborn to see that, because you’re hurting too, and I don’t know why.” Junsu stroked softly at Jaejoong’s hair.
“I’m not hurting.” Jaejoong said quickly though he did sit up moving away from Junsu’s arms. “You’re in love with him, aren’t you?”
“He’s in love with you. There’s no point.” Junsu was tired. He was tired and sad.
“I know.” Jaejoong knew this. He knew this. He knew that Yoochun was in love with him and had always known it. But he’d hoped the feelings would go away and that they could continue whatever they did. Never once had he considered that he was hurting Yoochun, because the other man was just as attached to kissing Jaejoong, as Jaejoong was to kissing him.
“You know?” Junsu was a little bit confused about this.
“Yeah.”
“If you knew it, why do you keep hurting him then? Why do you keep sleeping with him if you know he loves you as more than friends? You claim to love him, yet you keep hurting him. Maybe Changmin was right after all.” Junsu saying these words hurt Jaejoong more than anything. It was almost as if Junsu saying them made them far more true and harsh.
“I told you, he was. I don’t know why I keep sleeping with Yoochun. He’s my best friend. He gives me comfort. I do love him, and I hate hurting him, but it just feels too good to just stop.” There was really no reason as to, why he continued to sleep with Yoochun. It just happened.
“Okay. Let me give you comfort then.” Junsu said trailing a hand over Jaejoong’s leg. Jaejoong moved away.
“No.” Jaejoong simply said. “I won’t do that. You’re sweet, you’re nice, and you actually care. I actually care about you, I don’t even know why, but I can’t hurt you like that. You want Yoochun.”
“And you want Changmin, what’s the point?” Junsu asked suddenly feeling hurt that even Jaejoong didn’t want him.
“I don’t want Changmin.” Jaejoong said automatically shaking his head. “I could never want him.”
“But you do.” Junsu said again and got up from his seat. “Let’s just go to sleep hyung. I’ll comfort you. Show you that sex isn’t the only comfort.” And that he did.
He took Jaejoong with him to the bed and cuddled with him throughout the night. Just whispering softly and stroking his hair, until Jaejoong fell asleep comfortably cuddled against the younger man’s chests. He believed that he was special; he believed that he was talented and above all, he believed that he was a good person. Even if that only lasted one night.
