the time traveler's wife (2009)

5/10 *****
Plot: A romantic drama about a Chicago librarian with a gene that causes him to involuntarily time travel, and the complications it creates for his marriage.
I really like the topic "time travel"; therefore, I do enjoy stories dealing with that. And this film does it justice. It's quite interesting and captivating. Maybe now I'll give the book a chance, I guess it might be worth the time. This is the type of film that if you say much you wind up ruining it for the next person. So, I'll just say that is a good film. Despite some plot holes, well, at least I thought they were plot holes. Maybe they're not. Time travel usually stirs issues like that. Oh, have I said how much I like Rachel McAdams yet? No. So, there you go... I really like Rachel McAdams. Charming, lovely lady!

7/10 *******
Plot: A coming-of-age story about a teenage girl in 1960s suburban London, and how her life changes with the arrival of a playboy nearly twice her age.
I thoroughly enjoyed this film. I've been meaning to watch it for quite a while, now I finally did it. And it was not a let down. Something about the story, I don't know... resonated with me for some reason. I should definitely read Lynn Barber's memoir. Anyhow, great performances, and fine altogether scenario. I've gotta say that I found myself very fond of Miss Stubbs. A very positive and interesting character that one! I often complain say that I've never had the pleasure of having a teacher who truly inspired me. I did have one and only professor at Law University that did so, 'though (Criminal Due Process, the subject that is). But never a teacher. Anyway, I highly recommend the film. Interesting indeed!
after sex (2007)

3/10 ***
Plot: Sex is a background to examine intimacy and vulnerability. Looks at the complexity of modern day relationships told through nine separate couples. Through dialogue and compromising situations, the film takes us from the beginning of a relationship to the aftermath of one, and examines every stage in between seeing humor within the drama, heartache and confusion of it all.
Great idea. Poorly executed. That's all I have to say.
making mr. right (2008)

2/10 **
Plot: An uptight female magazine editor makes a bet with her best friend that she can make-over a scruffy con man to become her magazine's "Bachelor of the Year". A shave and a haircut later, he's revealed as a handsome, charming rogue. She teaches him manners and etiquette, while he teaches her to live in the moment.
Oh, boy!... Talk about contrived and cliched! Typical badly written rom-com. I'm afraid not even Dean Cain, who I'll always cherish for playing Clark Kent in a beloved series, could prevent this rating.
