it'll be genius!!
okay, i'm going to tell you about this idea that's been stalking me for god knows how long now. don't laugh xD
no secret that i love playing with languages because i'm a fanatic. so it's natural that i want to translate things (i'm going to make it my profession after all), especially things i want to share with everyone because they're so flipping brilliant. like i wanted to translate Jack Kerouac's The Town and The City and i actually was asked to do it. but i wouldn't dare since he's genius with words and i'm not skilled enough.
buuuut since i read quite a lot of fanfiction i want to translate it too. there are reasons i haven't done it yet. my first true love was Harry Potter fanfiction and EVERY good fic got translated in no time cos it was SO popular with our audience. besides i read them all in Russian, it was more convenient. then i became obsessed with the Beatles fic and then LedZep, RS, Aerosmith followed suit. all fics were so good i wanted to lick them all, but then again people here weren't interested in these fandoms. then i fell in love with the Boosh and again it turned out unpopular among slashers here.
now there is this one story i love which is called Stockholm Syndrome and features the characters initially based around those two played by Noel and Ju in the Mint Royale video. buuut they evolved with the story and became original characters with different names and everything and the names needed changing anyway for the story to be published as a book (i know, it's brilliant!). and i thought that maybe the original story would stir interest at last and the whole idea would be beneficial for both my fanatic self and the perverted minded beauties people who read it...
i want to try my hand at written translation of fiction to see what it's like. it'll be a challenge anyway since i'm not used to it and scared, to be honest. i know i'll have to find a beta and find out if anyone's interested at all and then i'll have to read things in Russian cos i've forgotten how they're written over the last year or two...
but the most important thing i'll have to do is obviously propose ;) to the author. begging for the permission won't be a problem once i decide though. i know i'll be able to start only in a couple of months cos of my exams and prom and stuff so there's time.
what do you think?
