interesting things about barcelona

1) all the blocks are octagonal.
2) there are no street signs; only tiny plaques on the sides of buildings.
3) every single building is an architectural wonder, whether it's a gaudi masterpiece or a janky apartment building. also, there are little domed temples or giant statues of people on thrones on top of lots of buildings.
4) there are very few important laws. we asked a policelady what the rules were about riding bikes on the sidewalk and she laughed at us and said "no hay reglas". drinking in public is no big deal either. a box of wine is 69 euro-cents, and a six pack of malt liquor is 1.75 euros.
5) the public library doesn't have very many books, but it has a great comic book section and an amazing selection of cds. today i checked out: a- a warren zevon album. b- hank williams greatest hits. c- missy elliott's new album, and d- hip-hop solo en espanol volumen 2.
6) every street has a little park or a plaza, so everywhere feels like the center of town. barcelona is tiny, but everyone who lives here thinks it's huge. if there were no traffic lights, i could bike across town in half an hour.
7) everyone rides a bike with tiny wheels and has a mullet. there are many hideous varieties. spaniards have horrible fashion sense.
8) the food is mostly very bad. last night my senora served me a pile of mayonnaise for dinner.
9) american suckers always get pickpocketed, but i bike too fast for anyone to get my wallet.
10) most importantly, barcelona is fun, fun, fun.
