Player's Name: Renee.

Other Characters Played: This would be my first here.

Character: Marvel Frozen. Real Name: Eris Jerand.
Series/Fandom: Star Ocean.
Original or Template version: Original.

Age: She appears to be in her twenties; as Eris, she is probably slightly younger than twenty.
Gender: Female.
Species: As Eris, she was a Featherfolk, a mostly-human race complete with a set of large wings. Now she is a Moorian, which is essentially a human in almost every aspect. Oh, but they are never babies. Ever. They are born already adults, according to the king of the continent Moore. How crazy is that. They are a part of an ancient (extremely advanced) civilization, however, and thus aren't supposed to exist.
Sexuality: Uninterested! Asexual, then.

Appearance: Marvel, as she is now, appears as a humanoid with absolutely no inhuman traits whatsoever. Which is exactly the problem. On the planet of Roak, all of the races that appear are inhuman in some way: Fellpools have cat tails, Lesser Fellpools more cat features, Lycanthropes are werewolves, Highlanders have wolf tails and marks on their faces, and Featherfolk are winged.

Marvel, though, is a very beautiful young woman with none of these features. She has long, wavy, dark blue hair that she usually keeps in a high ponytail, yet it still manages to reach her waist. She wears a long, layered dress (matches her earrings, yeah!) and uses something called a Raven Orb which is, as it sounds, an orb that floats around her. She is the recipient of constant praise for her beauty by Millie, who comments on her slender waist and legs. In one event, she is even stopped randomly by a painter, who asks to paint her picture because she is so beautiful.

However, beautiful as she is, she has an air of extreme sadness around her. She's not very strong, either, and uses her Raven Orb to fight when she has to.

Oh, and she doesn't breathe. Going to throw that out there.

Personality: Marvel is extremely reserved and secretive. She keeps to herself, mostly, shying away from contact with others in general. However, her beauty attracts plenty of unwanted attention (i.e. the painter), leaving her flustered quite often. Talk about her body, face, any physical attribute that she has, leaves her even more flustered. Her appearance is a touchy subject for her, as is the mystery of her Raven Orb and lack of tail, wings, etc. Thankfully, though, Ronixis is usually there to change the subject for her. She is very loyal to those that she does interact with, however.

Regardless of her shyness, Marvel is every part of a refined, polite woman. She has a very specific time in which she will lose that part of herself: her revenge.

Her revenge is a huge part of her. It is the only reason that she is still alive. It is an excuse, a resolve, and a trigger. She can use it to free herself from unwanted company (which she tries to do in some scenarios when she first appears in the game). She'll use it to keep living. It's what keeps her from telling her brother who she really is.

Abilities/Strengths: Both Marvel and her Raven Orb are very weak. When using her Raven Orb to fight, she is slow and does very little damage. However, throw some magic in and she is a force to be reckoned with. She can churn out elemental techniques with her orb with a speed and fury like no one else in the game.

Weaknesses: As mentioned, Marvel is physically weak. She is easily hurt, and, when it comes to close combat, she falls quickly. Socially, her detached personality and one track mind often get in the way. Her past and mysterious present also cause her to say strange things, sometimes (i.e. random comments in regards to Joshua's sister, or when she interrupts the group's efforts to save a sleeping girl trapped in ice).

History: At last, time to unravel Marvel's biggest secrets: her life as Eris Jerand, Joshua Jerand's sister.

Joshua's revenge is uncannily similar to Marvel's. The Red Shield killed his parents and abducted his sister. Marvel, on the other hand, claims that the same Red Shield killed her parents and brother. The truth behind it is, Marvel is that very same missing sister. Or, at least, Eris is. After their parents were killed, Eris found herself alone. A friend of the Red Shield's found her, and somehow brainwashed her into killing innocent people. It is unknown how she escaped him.

Somehow, she discovered a bit of Moorian secret technology: a technology called a Soul-Transfer device. Using it, she was able to transfer her consciousness into that of a Moorian's, which would be Marvel. With this body, she would have the power necessary to exact her revenge. Eris's body was left, encased in ice, in the inner-most sanctum of the Sylvalant ruins.

On her journey as Marvel, she ran into Ronixis and Millie, who had been separated from their group. Ronixis quickly became someone that she can trust, and turned out to be the only one who knew that she was not in her own body. Thanks to this, he knows to stop the otherwise innocent conversations regarding Marvel when they go too far. Millie, though, gave Marvel constant admiration from the moment they first met.

Later, when she runs into them again, this time reunited with their friends, she sees Joshua and immediately recognizes him. Meanwhile, though, her odd questions and statements regarding his missing sister Eris gave Joshua a lot of good reason to dislike Marvel, as sad as that is.

His aversion to her stayed true through to the end, in the Sylvalant ruins again. The party, exploring the ruins, happens upon Eris's frozen body. Joshua immediately recognizes her and goes straight to help her, only to be stopped by Marvel. She can't let him discover Eris "dead". She loves her brother too much. She can't tell him the truth, either--her guilt for bloodying his dear sister's hands, whether or not she was controlled, was too much. After a frantic and frankly confusing sequence of events, Marvel and Eris both disappear in a flash of light, dying as Marvel's last chance to "save" Joshua.

Sample Journal Entry: I should be dead. I should have Eris Jerand's body. I should be--...
I... suppose I cannot control everything, after all.

I've never seen a place quite like this, though. I can't help but wonder if I am even still on Roak anymore. Or... in the same time period. It seems like... everyone here is Moorian. Or perhaps I am at Ronixis's home. Earth.
At least, I am away from those ruins again, but I wonder about... her. She should have gone with me...

If I'm still Marvel, then she must be somewhere. I wonder if that is alright.

This technology, though... seems distinctly Moorian. It is unlike Ronixis's simply in concept. He had advanced methods of communication, but... this is different. Regardless, I will use what is given to me, if I may.

To anyone that would listen: I would like some help, please. I'm... new to this city, and... I really do not know my way around.

Sample Roleplay: A wooden shrine. That was the best term Marvel could come up with for where she was. It was mostly wooden, but it was obviously used for similar purposes. It was old, but not nearly old enough to be left over from the Moorians. And already it was unfamiliar.

Unfamiliarity was something she was accustomed to, she traveled so much. But not on this scale. Not even close. Not a single sight was familiar. Perhaps she truly was on Earth.

Oh, Marvel had been dazed--she nearly walked right onto the crowded road. Crowded with unfamiliar vehicles. Again, that unfamiliarity rose. Well, Marvel told herself, even I am unfamiliar to this city. We're in the same situation. And that made her feel better, at least a little.

And then she realized one thing. As awkward as they were with one another, and as much as he obviously disliked her, Joshua's company was something that she already missed. She had lost him again, and he, her. But at least he could have that closure. At least he could hate Marvel, and know that his sister was... gone, forever. ...Right? Had she done the right thing? If she had just told him, explained to him that she and Eris were the same...

It was too late to consider what-ifs and impossible scenarios now. And anyway, the Eris within her knew that she couldn't do that to her brother. He was in good company. He would be alright. If he didn't have his closure, he would find it yet with them.

She would miss them as well. Especially Ronixis... Although, she was prepared to leave them from the start.

Even so, she hadn't quite planned on it this way.
