what have I got now...36 days until I leave? I hope I'm able to keep my promise to myself, of finding immense joy in all things North American, like $5.00 cups of coffee and mass transit in suburban areas. hell, even a middle ground between urban and rural will be a nice change. While I don foresee myself reciting the national anthem every time i see a bus arrive on time, or when I tip a barista an amount more fitting to the beverage I'd just payed too much for, I'll still be pretty relieved to be on home soil again. I only hope such bliss lasts for more than a week before I start feeling bored again. I may only have 36 days until I leave Italy, but a structured schedule of functional life activities, such as work or school is still a long way off. At least I'll have some semblance of freedom again.
It's my dogs' birthday today. The boys are a year old and growing like little weeds. Furry, barky, poopy little weeds..... Kicsi is 8lbs now, and Bruno is about 4 lbs. Kicsi is clearly the jock in the family, while I suspect Bruno might be goth, as he pouts a lot and cries when he's lonely. I think we're going to take them for a walk and feed them an extra special lunch today.
Not much else to report from here...it's been cold and I've been dreaming of heating systems that actually heat the house, and large indoor common areas, like malls and rec centres, where people can get out of the gloom of winter and stuffy rooms and into open dens of recycled air and god knows how many germs. All the while happily distracted by shiny things and spandex.
