H.A.M.M.E.R. ARRESTS BRUCE WAYNE
New York Post
Prominent businessman Bruce Wayne of Gotham was arrested by H.A.M.M.E.R. this afternoon on suspicion of criminal activities and assault. Mr. Wayne was reportedly on the premises of Headquarters to meet with Deputy Director Carol Danvers. Specific details of the meeting are unavailable however unconfirmed inside reports indicate it was not scheduled through official sources.
Since his appointment to Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. (now H.A.M.M.E.R.) Norman Osborn has had enquiries made into new defense manufacturing contracts; Wayne may have been brought in to discuss a bid for Wayne Enterprises. While Wayne is the public face of the company he normally does not become personally involved in negotiations, however he might have made an exception for such a promising arrangement. Whether the initial affair was a business or social call, it soon exploded into an issue of national security.
Details of the arrest are also sketchy. H.A.M.M.E.R.'s official statement indicates that Mr. Wayne was requested to leave after agents overheard inflammatory assertions. He refused and when Director Osborn approached Wayne reportedly assaulted him. Wayne was immediately taken into custody and held on the premises pending investigation. He was released hours later without charges. H.A.M.M.E.R. regrets the situation and assures that Mr. Wayne has been cleared of all wrongdoing. However, they further state it should be understood that the organisation takes all threats very seriously.
Representatives for Mr. Wayne have issued no statement beyond calling the incident a misunderstanding.
