This installment was another of the flashback episodes that been populated throughout the Heroes saga; this time focusing on Angela Petrelli. In this episode, we see more connections to the first season and more of a sense of bringing things full circle. We see a young Angela being taken to a place that was little more than an interment camp for people with abilities. We meet Angela's younger sister who was revealed to be a weather manipulator. The modern-day Angela needed to come back to this camp to find her sister who we discover was still alive. In this episode, we witness the beginnings of the company with Charles Deveaux, Bob Bishop, and Daniel Linderman. We also see a young Dr. Suresh who had a hand in the camp.
One of the best things they've done this volume has been focusing on less storylines per episode and I think it has been a success. This episode focused on the extended Petrelli Clan of Angela, Peter, Nathan, Alice, Claire and Noah. Mohinder was brought in really to parallel his father. Angela has really been a gem this season. I liked the motivation of why Angela stole socks the first season, and it didn't feel forced at all. This episode also helped to set up what may be some of the main focus of the next volume but thankfully, we see Mohinder make a choice that maybe he should not follow in the footsteps of his father (one of his main motivations of the first season).
My only gripe this episode was the revelation that Charles had some kind of telepathic/mind control power. Many people have called time travel a crutch of plotlines, but I think that telepathy/mind control is right up there. Charles makes the 6th character we've seen with this type of power, following Eden, Matt and Maury Parkman, Doyle and Arthur Petrelli. This episode receives a 10/10 for continuity, characterization, plausibility and overall enjoyability.
