This evening I saw a priest walking down the street, writing a text message. My first urge was to take a pic of him with my picture phone (unfulfilled.)
Today's been yet another lesson in the value of connections. Is this what it means when they say this country is one of the most corrupt in the world, or is this simply how the industrialized (if not non-industrial) world operates? In this case, as I've said before, I feel grateful for all the important people my family knows, and I am beginning to know. Long story short, the people at work weren't able to get a hold of anyone for tickets, I called up Tanya's mom to get her on the hunt, and my grandma called another friend who's already helped me out with work. I hung around work a couple hours hoping something would turn up, then got called in for house arrest when my grandma's friend found me a ticket there. Four hours and a much-needed nap later, I was the proud owner of a round-trip railway ticket to St. Petersburg July 16-25!!! White nights, here I come! Dad says this way I am less likely to get kidnapped. Racist.
If you've been to St. Petersburg, tell me the one thing I have to see (no duplicates.)
Secondly, who desperately wants a postcard from Leningrad?
Grandma invited my childhood friend Marina over for plov, and then we looked through all the pics on my computer, as well as
levinius's famous super-slideshows. She wants to know if she can get one if she mails in some photos. As I understand it, he's only available for weddings and Bat Mitzvahs.
We just saw three feminine-product commercials during a single commercial break. I'm scared.
