Marvel's Zombie with a mouth...

...redundant? Sure.

9:28 AM 8/19/09 · I haven't ready any comics in a really long time, some of you may know why, but I recently found a place relatively close by that sells them. One of the things I picked up was Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth #1 which is the start of the whole "Head Trip" scenario...

...which involves Deadpool vs. Zombie Deadpool.

Sort of.

If you didn't catch the last chapter of the whole Marvel Zombies situation, which was more or less Machine Man vs. Zombies, then you probably missed how one of the Marvel Zombies accessed the standard (616) Marvel Universe via the dimensional portals in the Florida Everglades. It was Deadpool. He didn't get very far, though he infected at least one person, before he literally lost his head.

The head is back.

Deadpool, not the zombie one, is hired by AIM (Advanced Idea Mechanics) to retrieve an unspecified biological weapon from the Savage Land. To make a long story short, he finds out it's his zombified counterpart: head on a pike, being worshipped by neanderthals. I haven't read the next issue yet, Smoke Shops tend to be a bit behind the curve on up to date issues, but it looks promising.

Now, my question.

Not having read Deadpool in a long time I'm a little confused by something. He seems to be talking to himself...or selves. There's what he says, in his typical yellow talking balloon. There's a thought box that's also yellow and then another thought box which is standard white. Short of that situation when Wolverine was mind·controlled by Hydra, where he literally had a programmed other personality mixed in with his own, I've never seen anything like this before.

Why is Deadpool talking to himself? What did I miss??

deadpool, zombies
