Spring. Yeah. That's a good thing, bub.

For a gruff guy who doesn't seem to like anything that isn't a beer, a cigar or a kid in distress, Logan does enjoy April and May. Warm, not hot.  (Hairy Canadians just don't get comfortable in extreme heat, y'know.) So while 65 might be a little cool for other Mansion denizens to enjoy the place's outdoor pool, it suits him just fine ( Read more... )

Jean flies off the side and into the water, knifing though the wake left by Rogue's fast movement.

She falls into a more traditional breast stroke, the water being pushed away from her face as she surges along. From the side, it looks almost like the prow of a boat is sliding in front of her, and telekinetic extensions from her arms help Jean to move quickly.

As the two women glide glassily through the pool water, Logan grunts to Gambit, "Ain't about which wins or loses, Cajun. 'S about watching two redheads get wet, hot 'n bothered about beatin' each other in a race. Thinkin' man's mud wrestlin'."

"Never liked d't'ought of mud wrestlin'," Remy admits. Or confesses, maybe. Isn't that supposed to be every man's fantasy? "Don' mind d'slippin' around, but in mud? Look like a mess t'me. Now, d'cleanin' 'em off part, dat could be a whole lotta fun."

What? What else are they going to talk about while they're watching?

Of course if Rogue were hearing this, she'd likely roll her eyes and leave them to each other. As it is, though, she's focused on taking breaths at the right time so she can do a flip turn at the far end of the pool. With one of the four lengths of the typical race between the two done, and they're looking fairly even.

"Me either," Logan concurs, opening a fresh brew for himself, "which is why I'm here watchin' Rogue and Jean an' not at some low-class titty bar. Rather see a woman bein' athletic than deliberately dirty tryin' to get money thrown at their asses."

He takes a swig of beer. "Yeah, this is a helluva lot better, bub."

"D'question is," Remy asks sort of absently, and certainly never taking his eyes off the pool, "is whether dere such a t'ing as a high-class titty bar." He smiles into the neck of his beer.

The Canucklehead examines the glowing end of his cheroot and replies, "Yeah, there is. 'S called Bloomingdales."

Jean is focusing on keeping her telekinesis close, using it as an assist to her own movements rather than relying on it alone.

Mental exercise is just as good as physical, she figures, and this way she doesn't have to worry about accidentally TK'ing out the contents of the pool.

They're even as both hit the far wall and flip, but Rogue begins to take a slight lead, pulling just barely ahead.

Rogue can feel that she's starting to pull away but there is still plenty of race left to be swum. She tries to hold to the pattern she wants for breaths per stroke. The suit does make a difference in how she interacts with the water. It might be an advantage all to itself, which isn't fair. She'll bring it up.... after this race.

"Promise me something," Logan says to Gambit. "No matter who wins, we take these ladies out, treat 'em nice. Deal?"

As if that were something that needed asking. "Deal," Remy says without so much as a hitch of hesitation.

Another flip turn passes and Rogue feels confident that Jean won't catch her - as long as she doesn't slow down. When your lungs begin complaining about the pace you're setting, though, it is hard to keep things going at the same pace.

Jean is definitely falling behind, even with the telekinetically-aided movement through the water.

And she did promise not to use her powers against Rogue directly, but that doesn't mean that she can't extend out, cause the wake from her movements to spread further and possibly into Rogue's path...

The wake does slow Rogue down. She's having to pull harder with every stroke. It will make the race much closer than it would have been without it. Still, they're both moving at a pace that would make most swimmers envious.

Remy moves a little closer to the edge of the pool. Sure, he can see from where he is, but he can see better from here than he could back by Logan. And who doesn't want to see these two women at their best? And from the best vantage point.

He takes another draw on his beer, then shouts out, "C'mon, p'tite. Y'catch up an' kick her derriere!"

Whether she can hear him or not is sort of...moot.

There's a small wave that washes up over the edge of the pool and drenches his toes. It's possible to see the smile on Jean's face from where he's at, as she cuts through the water still trailing behind Rogue.
