One Side or the Other

Erik Lehnsherr looked down upon the pretty blue-and-white globe that was his home planet and sighed. Then winced as his wounds - not so healed as he might have liked - protested the movement. His response to his email was ... mixed, as he knew it would be. Undoubtedly Charles was marshalling his own forces to either keep an eye on him or to outright interfere.

He devoutly wished for the former. The former he would welcome with open arms. The latter, well, that he could not tolerate. And interference now, on the eve of mutant liberation, would likely be disastrous.

But first things first. There was an issue he needed to resolve, one that would not wait for him to be entirely better. Tightening the thin metal mesh bandage about his midsection, he stood slowly and pressed a key in his command center.

"Paris?" he said pleasantly. "Bring her to me. Then return to your mission, my friend." he said before killing the connection.
