A little touch of melodrama (Open to people at the Xavier Institute)

Jan 15, 2009 23:35

The expression 'absence makes the heart grow fonder' apparently rang true for the Beaumont family. While Rylee's parents hadn't given her much attention while she was home, now that they knew their baby was a mutant and under lockdown at the Xavier Institute for her own protection, they'd been pretty consistent about contacting her by phone and email.

Rylee was reading an email from her mother, face scrunching up in disgust when she read over the last few lines of the email.

"By the way sweetie, Thenabelle Vanderhall is having a formal party and she specifically asked about if you could make it. It's not for a couple of months yet, so maybe the lockdown will be over and we can bring you?

Love,
Mom"

There was only one possible reaction to this. Rylee couldn't stand Thenabelle Vanderhall, and she hated formal parties. They were more or less a yawn-fest where she was expected to make an appearance and behave herself the entire night.

"AAAAAUUUUGGGHH!" Her displeasure was vented in the halls of the Xavier Institute, loud and clear for anyone within range to hear. "DAMMIT!"
