X-Men X-Mas Shopping

Cyclops was still leery about letting anyone out of the Institute with the Purifiers still out there, but he knew he had a riot on his hands if he didn't give everyone a chance to get out and breathe. As such, he arranged for a trip into the city, a chance for everyone to get out, go Christmas shopping, take in the sights, and stretch their legs a little. Not too much room, though, as he still wanted the students at least to remain in groups. Safety in numbers, and if there was trouble anyway, there were more than enough X-Men on hand to deal with it.

And those who chose not to go? They would at least get to enjoy the mansion not being as loud and crowded, for once.
