Second dates prove the first didn't bomb

Scott had phoned Sharon to set up their next date. Finding a day that worked with both their schedules was only a minor headache. He'd hoped that they'd be able to slip out of the mansion without Cassie noticing but an Antman situation had held him up and he didn't think Sharon would appreciate it if he showed up for the date in his uniform. Sharon was on time as usual. She took a deep breath and rang the doorbell, hoping that it wasn't Steve who answered the door.

It wasn't Steve but it was the next worst person.

Cassie opened the door. "I'm guessing you're Sharon?"

She still hadn't decided whether or not to torture the woman (and by extent her dad) or to leave her alone. On the one hand, Cassie was growing up, would be going off to college in a few years even, so she should be mature enough to deal with this. And on the other hand she was still Daddy's little princess and now there was a new woman in his life. And (if you were a mutant) on the other other hand her dad had thrown Nate out the window.

Sharon offered the girl a smile. Cassie? Or was it some other younger Avenger? "Yes. I'm Sharon Carter," she said with an extended hand.

"Cassie Lang." She shook Sharon's hand.

So, I hear you're dating my dad.

So, you're an agent of SHIELD, can you give me any gadgets?

Just to let you know, I really can crush you with my pinky.

This one time, my dad took me to the park, and all these squirrels...

Cassie stepped back to give Sharon room to enter. "Nice to meet you."

Sharon had the fingers of one hand intertwined with Scott's as they walked down the midway. "What would you like to do next?"

"I'll buy you a fried twinkie if you want to win a prize?" Scott offered idly. "Or we could go on a ride?" This was nice. It was nice to have someone to talk to above seventeen and just...be an adult with. He was so rusty on the dating thing.

"How about I win you a prize? I saw a shooting game. I bet I could do it without any problems."

"If you couldn't, I think we'd be having to talk to Col. Fury," Scott laughed. "Sure you don't want some fried something goodness?"

Sharon pulled up in front of the Avengers' Mansion and shut off the car. She climbed out and walked around to the passenger side. She almost opened the door for Scott, but she waited instead. It was enough of a change of roles that she was walking him to his front door.

"I had a good time...and one of these days you'll have to get an apartment so I can pick you up," Scott told her.

"I had a great time. I really should get around to getting an apartment. I could use a little help picking one out." She walked with him to the front door.

"Sounds fun," Scott smiled. "And thank you for the lovely date...what do you think about staying in next time?"
