Tinker toys are for amateurs
Lewis was in 'his' room, tinkering with someone's old alarm clock. He was pretty sure it was a student's. And since he took it out of the trash, it wasn't stealing, really. And since the basket just had paper stuff in it, it wasn't gonna get him in trouble for digging through gross, icky garbage, either.
And it was a digital clock! He'd never been able to mess with one of those before! And it worked really neat! And he was almost done fixing it, too, and he could probably give it to Momma when he was done. As a make-up birthday present. And it'd only taken him five hours to get this far, and only 'cause he'd had to work a really, really long time to get the case pried open without cracking it. Mostly 'cause he'd had to steal borrow a butter knife to use as a screwdriver. And...
