It sure ain't home...

Lucy woke up.

For a long panicked moment, Lucy had no idea where she was. This wasn't her room and this wasn't the farm and it took awhile to figure out that they had left the farm because someone had burned it to the ground.

Her stomach rumbled. It occurred to her they hadn't really had a chance to actually eat dinner. She looked around. This must be Joshua's room. Because Joshua was on the other bed. Her stomach rumbled again. It was the middle of the night, sure, but Lucy wouldn't go back to sleep without something to eat.

This place had to have a kitchen or something and she could kind of, sort of not at all cook. She was still dressed in the clothes she had been wearing earlier and they smelled kind of like smoke but at least weren't burned that bad.

She wondered how long she had been asleep, but figured someone would've woken her up for breakfast so it couldn't have been that long. Lucy slipped out of the bed and around the other people on it slowly and quietly. It was a trick you learned when sharing a room and bed with siblings.

Quietly she went to the door, looked back to make sure Joshua was still asleep and slipped out into the hallway.

"Wow, this place is huge!" she said quietly looking around. Okay. Kitchen.

There had to be one somewhere.
