The hero known as Wonder Man has been in a difficult spot for over a year now. At first he was believed dead at the hands of his older brother, the Grim Reaper after an attack on national television many dismissed as a joke. The hero's ionic energy was merely phased in a way that has made assuming the flesh impossible, leaving a body behind and the hero hopelessly phased out of synch with the rest of the world. That was until this "ghost," found his way to The Cube facility where hundreds of underage metahumans were being tortured and killed. Unable to help in any other way, Simon Williams willed himself to disburse; his remaining ionic power making the villains unable to escape or destroy the evidence of their wrongdoing. It was a good and noble end for someone who has always felt second place regarding everything in his life. The end was premature however, thanks to the wishes of his nephew, the mutant sorcerer known as Wiccan and the simultaneous desire of Monet St. Croux, who wanted to open the passage between life and death for her own reasons.
The process has still left him in this half form. His phased ionics are still unable to touch anything in the physical world. He cannot eat. He cannot pick up a phone, turn a doorknob, or touch a woman's hair without considerable mental strain. He continues the effort, however, in his own quarters, focusing on a TV remote so he can watch something...anything.
