Prison of the Mind

The halls echoed with the heels clicking against the dark tiles on the floor. Her hair whispered around her as she unconsciously began to braid it, approaching to the quarters where prisoners were kept. Not that they had many.

She held back her suspicious far too long. Medusa never liked the idea of having Maximus held so close to the palace. She understood it was the safety for their kingdom and for their people. But now they had two precious children who needed to be kept far away from their Uncle as possible.

But her husband did not agree. And this was something that infuriated her, it was something she just didn’t speak about to anyone. Let it fester and let it brew, she kept it knocked and tight in her stomach. What sort of power that Maximus held over Blackagar, she simply did not know.  So it was simply up to her to put this suspicion to rest. She had informed Mixiy to warn her husband and Karnak if she stayed down too long.

At the door before his cell, Medusa took a final breath and opened the door before she walked in, steps echoed in the darkness.

medusa, maximus the mad
