A Day in the Life of the Brat Queen

Nov 29, 2007 20:39

Luna Maximoff's day started early. If only because she loved to be able to braid her own hair. And that took time. After that, was breakfast with her Mother and Cousins. With Cousin Karnak silently considering everything. Cousin Gorgon eating loudly and sometimes already drinking. With her Aunt and Uncle sitting next to each other. Aunt ( Read more... )

Tonaja had managed to get ahold of the times when Lady Luna was most likely to be without adult supervision. She just hadn't expected her to "wander off" so soon in the day.

She just hoped she wouldn't get caught following the little girl around. It would be very hard to explain it without going into Woz's suspicions.

Luna looked back towards where the other kids were running around and playing and where she was, standing off on her own. Oh well. There were places to go, people to... well... annoy, she supposed.

And walls to climb down to various gardens and the like. Nothing too bad. But she thought she saw something following her earlier. This would make sure.

Tonaja tried to concentrate on staying out of Lady Luna's sights, but it was hard with all the worries pressing in. She was worried about Woz; about what would happen if Lady Luna really was spending time with the madman; why no one had bothered to do something about those air ducts that were easily large enough for an adult to crawl through, much less a child.

She did notice Lady Luna looking back and moved discreetly out of sight. Not so fast that it would catch Lady Luna's attention, but hopefully fast enough that she hadn't been spotted.

Luna did see something and smiled thinly to herself. And then she decided to have some fun with this. She turned a corner into a spot that would be very hard to follow but had a nice sized pond. Inhumans knew how to decorate. She liked places like this to read. And no one ever just straight out told her to leave something.

Unless she was in someone's bedroom. Besides, you could get into the vents here from behind a bush. She went there, looking over her shoulder.

Tonaja had also spent some time since she and Woz had run into Lady Luna studying the ventilation system, making special note of all the places that were easily accessible to an eight-year-old girl. Unfortunately, this was one of the vents that she couldn't fit through even before she'd gained her wings.

Her options weren't particularly good. She could reveal herself to distract Lady Luna, or allow her to go into the vents. If she chose the latter, her options were waiting and hoping she came out the same place or going down and trying to wrangle her way past the guards to check in on the crazy madman in his cage. She really, really wasn't fond of that option in the least.

Luna went in the vents and didn't go to the caged madman. There were tons of other places to go. Like you could end up on a roof.

Like she was. About two blocks from where she started. She poked her head up and looked around. To see if she could figure out who was following her around.

This was so much better than her classes.

Sitting and waiting had never been one of Tonaja's strong points. She could do it when required, and when there was a large chance of it working out in her favor, but this didn't appear to be one of those times.

She did move away from the vent before she took to the air, though. If Lady Luna had popped up somewhere else, that would certainly be suspicious.

'Lady' Luna had popped up on the roof of a near by building. The great thing about an enclosed environment is the vents went everywhere.

Literally.

So sitting there, she watched Tonaja fly around, suspicions confirmed. Picking up a small piece of... it looked like a rock... next to her hands she chucked it at the flying girl and dove for cover. Head peaking up to see if she hit.

She didn't much care for Tonaja, after all.

Oh no. Thrown rocks. Her one weakness.

Only not.

Tonaja saw the rock coming and caught it. She'd almost slapped it back the way it came, but had recalled the person most likely to have thrown it at her.

It did tell her where Lady Luna had come from, though.

Super awesome thrown rock attack fail!

You know, that's what it would be if it was one of those Japanese TV shows. When the rock didn't hit, she ducked out of sight. Or so she hoped.

What she was really wondering was why a member of the Royal Guard had so much time on their hands as to be following her around.

This was both Bad and Stupid.

Tonaja calmly regarded the direction the rock had come from, as well as the available hiding places for Lady Luna. In a normal situation, she would immediately go and soundly berate whoever was throwing rocks at her. However, the rock-thrower was most likely to be Lady Luna, and a confrontation would most likely lead to questions as to why she was in the area and so on and so forth.

Clearly, her tracking abilities needed a great deal more work if an eight-year-old could catch her this easily.

Tonaja landed near the vent, blocking Luna's main avenue of escape and crossed her arms. Flying away and then returning later would be even more suspicious than confronting the little girl, after all.

It was more like the eight year old had gotten behind her enough to see her flying around.

Luna wasn't going to give up so easily.

After all, she could easily leave through the vents. But instead, she just looked up at Tonaja, looking totally innocent from the other side of the vent.

"Go away."

A nice, simple, royal command.

"I'm reluctant to leave you where you might fall from a height, Lady Luna." Tonaja replied calmly. She tossed the rock away onto the roof and offered her hand. "Shall we? Having tried both, I can assure you that flying is much more fun than crawling around in the ventilation system."

Perhaps an attempt to be friendly would be more useful than trying to trail after her.

"I won't fall," Luna said, sitting in the vent. "I don't want to go flying, I'm fine right here."

You know, despite having to be in class.

Tonaja wasn't going to mention that Lady Luna ought to be in class. The fact had been noted down, if only so she could check attendance records to see if this was a normal thing for the girl.

"None the less, it would be very irresponsible for me to leave you now that I've seen you up here." she said.

It was very normal for Luna to get bored and wander off during class. "You're not even supposed to be here. I can have Cousin Gorgon give you more to do," Luna said lightly.

It was a very real threat.
