Cable hates everything.

Grey has to know they're coming, and he can surely track Domino. There's a way to use that, though. There's a way to use everything.

Talking with his mother has stirred some thought. The kid is an idiot, he's not a monster. He's not thinking of it as complete and total violation and rape, he's just thinking of his own pursuit of happiness. They can rescue Siryn, the kid didn't wipe her completely - likely, she's been shunted into some private happyland and has no idea what's going on with her body. He believes that's what Grey was hiding from him during his scan of Sonique.

He has to believe that. He doesn't want to kill the kid.

It would save the world a lot of trouble and pain, and would be one less power-drunk fool walking this planet, but he doesn't want to kill the kid.

It would get rid of one more wastrel squatter who robs from everyone to give to himself, but he doesn't want to kill the kid.

It would deprive the world's madmen from having an uber-powerful and easily-manipulated tool with which to conquer and destroy, but he doesn't want to kill the kid.

It would be a huge burden off his mind and a huge sense of responsibility lifted, but he doesn't...

...

Some part of him wants to kill the kid. The same part of him that wants to kill himself and end this life of bullshit.

Deal with that when it comes. Now, it's a battle of tactics. The kid has set up shop in Central Park, no doubt waiting for Round 2 to start. The kid is tracking Domino, so she's left back in Westchester for now.

Innocent people are quickly suggested to get as far away as possible. They've only got one chance to surprise him this time, and the rest needs to be a complete dogpile. Sean's sonics to disrupt, Tom to corral Theresa... and this time he's bringing a lot more manpower.

The bodyslide in is silent and invisible, and the metal fist is instantly swinging at the back of Grey's head, hoping to knock him out and tranq him like they should've done the last time...

Nate Grey is a lot of things. Hardheaded, yes. But he can be a surprisingly quick study.

The same trick never works twice on him.

He's been waiting, watching, feeling the very world around him. He ducked the moment he felt any change in his surroundings, and fought back with a quick elbow aimed low.

Cable takes the elbow - not too bothered because it mostly hits metal - and he takes a step back.

He doesn't follow it up just yet.

"Looks like you can be taught."

Nate doesn't let up his assault. He doesn't hold back his power when he attacks. He can't afford to. A punch, charge by his power, is headed right for Cable's face.

"But you never learn."

Of course, the kid didn't recognize an opportunity to talk when it was given, and the eye flashes bright to protect himself.

He'll find the punch connecting to something extremely hard, jarring the metal jaw as Cable tumbles backwards and cracks into a tree.

Talking isn't an option. Not with them.

His hand is quickly wrapped around Cable's neck, but rather than attempt to snap it (which, granted, he is very tempted to do), he tries to do something he's never done before.

People look at the telepathy, the telekinesis, and the raw power of both, and assume he inherited all of Jean's powers. He's very much his father's son, though. Much like Scott, Nate absorbs and channels energy, psionic energy in his case, which is what fuels his power.

While he has shared power with others, giving and taking willingly... this is the first time he's ever tried to steal energy. He attempts to pull power from Cable, wanting to drain his doppelganger, taking Cable's power to add to his own.

Son of a bitch!

Wondered when the kid was going to figure that one out. This is where experience comes in handy. He CAN'T let this idiot get more powerful.

The metallic side of Cable's body juts out into spikes, to dig into the arm clutching him... while he uses his own version of his inheritance from his father.

Both eyes glow this time, and the psionic energy Grey is trying to drain is suddenly and forcefully shoved at him - into his mouth and down his throat.

That's a lot of power. An ungodly amount of power.

Raw. Uncontrolled. Untamed.

Almost overwhelming.

Almost.

This much power would drown most others, but Nate was in his element. All of his short life, he's had to deal with this; having more power than he could never possibly control. Being forced to command a power he could never hope to contain.

He didn't try to stop the sudden rush of power, that was usually the fatal mistake. Let a body that was used to the stress of this much energy deal with it, and pray his mind wouldn't be destroyed by it.

It was a gamble, that he could handle that much power. That Cable would stop before he could give too much, and give away the power that kept his T.O. Virus at bay.

One of them was going to have to blink...

... and that's when Deadpool slides in, right behind Sonique, to wrap an arm around her throat.

Growling in her ear.

"Do you not realize how many people spend their entire shit LIVES trying to die, and you get your ticket punched and you're too much of a selfish twat to take the ride up to NeverNothingLand? Get the fuck out of this body, you undead skank!"

Bobby is done taking it easy. Sure, he's not the cleanest fighter in the group, and he took his shots before - almost entirely ineffectually. Fed up with that, having given Cable the time to try and distract Nate, or at least get him to hold still, Roberto tries to disrupt the little challenge... with a thrown Buick to the head.

The metal starts to crawl over Cable's face as he struggles... and he can only hope Wade's move can cause enough of a distraction for Cable to wedge his foot in and kick Grey upwards into 'Berto's Buick...

It's called tactics, and despite the numbers, it's their only real advantage...

Especialy as he feels the virus claiming more of his body...

The amount of energy he was being fed was surprising. Even more so was what it started to do to him. He wasn't gaining new powers, but gained an awareness of what was already there. He'd seen glimpses before, only the barest edges of something more, but nothing like this. It was like he was seeing himself, and the world around him for the first time.

It was astounding.

"You don't know... you don't even have slightest idea. Your whole life... you've been a pathetic waste of potential. All because you're afraid..."

And then Deadpool came in, threatened Sonique, and Nate took his eye off the ball, as it were.

Nate blinked. He was hit into the Buick. And nearly killed them all when he collided.

All the energy he had absorbed was begging to be released. With the slip of his concentration, he had to let it all go. A mass of psionic energy, enough to fry the brains on half the planet, was only barely corralled and fired straight up into the atmosphere.

Cable has no response.

If he did, he couldn't voice it, as the TO is closing off his vocal cords, and he has to crawl himself to cover to try and reassert his control over his own body. Hope X-Force can keep him busy...

But he saw that move, knowing to release the power instead of trying to kill everyone with it.

No... the kid doesn't have to die. He can be trained...

The kid has to die.

Tightening his arm around her throat to cut off that hot mutant throat as best he can, Deadpool opens fire on the prick, hoping to perforate him for good now that he's off his game.

"DIE, YOU GRAVY-SUCKING PIG!"

An uprooted tree, swung like a baseball bat, joins Deadpool's bullets in the assault.
