Laurie had clipped the 'XGST' article from The Bugle and tucked it deep into one of the pockets of her polka-dotted school folder. Every now and a again, she'd pull it out and read it; she must've done so at least fifty times, by now, as if reading it over and over would help her make an informed decision, or help her formulate the words she needed to bring the subject up to her mother, or simply tell her what was best so that she could stop worrying.
What she did was wrong. It was wrong to manipulate other people.
She was learning to control it, though. She had a real friend, people who spoke to her without her having subconsciously forced them to. Anole had picked her to be on his team, like maybe she was useful...
She didn't want to be wrong in her very existance, and she didn't want to leave her friends, possibly abandon the chance to do some good, to make up for mutants like her dad.
Sitting on one of the benches outside, she'd paused in between chapters of the book she was currently reading. The article was out again, and she gripped it almost fiercely. What am I going to do?
