San Francisco

The Silver Saucer hovered over San Francisco, invisible, and deposited the crew -- along with the car picked up from Jimmy's house. Jimmy was, of course, shocked to see the current level of traffic, but Ken offered to drive until Jimmy got the hang of it ( Read more... )

"It's Tops Fountain Coffee Shop" has been on Market Street, near McCoppin, for many years now; the vintage sign outside only seems more appropriate with the guests looking over the menus inside. The wood paneling framing the seating and the macrame hanging from the ceiling seem incongruous next to the tabletop jukeboxes, framed '40's ads and the waitstaff's pink-and-black uniforms.

"Holy cow! We can't afford to eat here!" With prices like that Jimmy had no idea where they could afford to eat.

Ken (still disguised thanks to Bob's mental projections) chuckles as he orders his food.

"Prices went up since '59. Khanata's got the bill."

Bob pours syrup over his eggs, bacon, and pancakes, then pours coffee and cream onto the plate as well.

"Perhaps from here we should decide on our next plan of action."

Venus watches him, amused, before sipping her grapefruit juice.

"That would be a wise decision, yes."

Bob's eyes roll back, and he opens his mouth. A fleshy tube extends out past the sphere surrounding his head, and down towards the plate. It begins pulling the mixed food into its star-shaped end, slorping the food down in loud gulps.

Namora stares at her dining companion, not sure weather to be more confused at the food, the pricing, or the...thing...Bob is doing. She is not one to ever give in, but some battles are not worth the struggle.

She sips her coffee - black and ignores everything except the task at hand.

"What do we know of these 'agents of Atlas'?"

"Okay, that is officially the nastiest thing I have ever seen," Hal says, suddenly finding his bacon and eggs a lot less appealing than they were three seconds ago. "Dude, put that thing away. There are ladies present!"

Ken had barely caught it out of the corner of his eye before turning to see what the deal was.

He almost wish he hadn't.

He pushes his plate away, as he's kinda nauseous now.

"Ugh, Bob. What the hell?"

Bob retracts the fleshy protrusion back into his mouth, and has the grace to look someone embarrassed.

"Oh. Excuse me. My esophagus extends when I eat."

"We see," Namora comments dryly with an arched imperial eyebrow. "Now...Atlas?"

Venus looks at Namora. She loves the woman dearly, she does, but really...must everything be all business?

"I do believe that the planning is better left to those skilled in the art of war, not the art of love. Do let me know, though, when my abilities are needed in this particular plan."

Bob clears his throat. "Well... what if we investigate this huge network of 'Atlas' companies? If it looks like many of these different Atlas companies are all related... why not find out what they're up to?"

Venus places a hand over Bob's. "That sounds like a fantastic idea!" she gushes. "And with my powers of love, we will certainly be able to get all the necessary information quite fast indeed. Shall we start now?"

Bob glances at his plate. "Well, I'm done eating..."
