Nothing to do, but wait

The med lab was so quiet that Jubilee could hear the slow ticking of the clock on the wall. Time had been passing so slowly, it seemed that she had been here alone for ages. Well not quite alone, as Kevin and Nate still laid unconscious on the cots beside her. But that was worse, watching them and not being able to talk to them. Not knowing if they would wake up. Not knowing what else she could do but sit and wait.

She was shaking, in fear and in anxiety. She could not help but be reminded of the morgue, where her parents had ended up. Or of the hospital room where Angelo's heart monitor had just stopped before her eyes. On those occasions, she had someone at her side, supporting her and helping her stay calm. Right now, she was alone.

Jubilee looked down to her own bandages, where some of the bullets fired that evening had grazed her skin. One of them had actually been a deep wound, and it had hurt like hell to pull the bullet out. But she was not worried about her own wounds, Kevin and Nate were the ones fighting for their lives. And despite how scared and lonely she felt right now, she could not leave them alone. She would not leave them alone.

She just hoped that Polaris and Havok would return home soon. That someone would come to the med lab soon. She did not know how much longer she could continue staying strong, instead of giving in to the overwhelming emotions inside her. Jubilee took a deep breath, and checked over the two injured mutants in her care. She had to be strong for them, they needed to be cared for right now and she was the only one they had.

Jubilee picked up her X-communicator, she can only hope Hank McCoy has his turned on. "Doctor McCoy to the med lab, please... Doctor McCoy you are needed in the med lab, please." Sitting back down, there was nothing else to do but wait.
