A/N: For the POV challenge at marvel_aoa. From Charles's POV, baby's POVs are hard to write. Thanks to aussirayne for looking this over. And for those who don't know the AoA universe, Rogue and Magneto are married, Magneto is the leader of the X-Men and they have a little boy named Charles. :)

He ignored the ruckus around him, hands fumbling for the blocks lying on the floor, fingers latching quickly around them. He added the nearest one to his tower, face scrunching in concentration, laughing loudly as the structure tumbled to the ground.

“Hello, baby.”

He turned, hands outstretched towards his mother, grasping for her, smiling widely as she picked him up. She was speaking, her voice lulling him into a tranquil sense of security and he laid his head down on her shoulder, chubby hand entwining in her shirt.

“Mamamamamamama,” he babbled, grasping a piece of her hair and began chewing it.

“We’re going on another mission,” she said, gloved fingers stroking through his hair. He looked up, not liking the sadness in her voice. “Mama and Daddy both.”

“Dadadadadada?” he asked, looking towards the doorway.

She laughed, smiling down at him, body vibrating. “He’ll be here soon, baby,” she murmured and he looked back at her, chubby hands reaching for her face.

He frowned when she caught his hand, bottom lip trembling. “I know, baby,” she murmured, rocking him gently in her arms. “I know.”

He settled back against her shoulder, hands curling in her hair, her voice making him drowsy. “Mamama,” he said, feeling himself move through the air before he touched the familiar softness of the crib.

“Now I lay me down to sleep,” his mother began, covered fingers brushing over his cheek.

“Is he asleep?” He tried to open his eyes as his father’s voice filled the room, but all he could do was yawn, drifting closer to that happy abyss.

“Almost.”

“Mamamaamama. Dadadada,” he murmured, smiling as he heard both his parents’ voices whispering words of love before sleep overtook him.
